Stars Awakening (Survival Show) Contestants Profile

Stars Awakening (청춘스타/青春スター; also known as Youru Star) is a co-ed survival show that aired on Channel A in Korea and ABEMA in Japan. The show was looking for four factors: visuals, performance, song-writing, and vocals. There are 108 contestants: 48 in the idol category, 29 in the singer-songwriter category, and 31 in the vocal category. The finalists would debut in a major Japanese record company. If the vocal / songwriter team wins, a soloist will debut. If the idol group wins, a group will debut. It premiered on May 19, 2022. The idol group eventually won, and is planning to debut their group n.SSign.

How It Works:

Episode 1-3 (Preliminary Round):
Stages:
– Vocal & Singer-songwriters: individual stage
– Idol stages: 1 to 4 idols
Songs:
– Vocal & idol category: 1 song each person
– Singer-songwriter category: 1 cover song + 1 self-made song

Voting:
– Voting by 200 people at the venue (192 general people + 8 angel musicians)
– If someone gets 150 votes or more, they will pass the qualifying with a “STAR PASS” and advance to the finals
– The rankings are from A-C
– The top 7 team will make their debut and receive 100 million won (about 80,000 in USD)

Idol Voting:
– If the team fails to get 150 votes, individual voting will be conducted and only the participants who get 150 or more votes will advance to the finals

Episode 3-5 (First Round):
Stages:
– Vocal & Singer-songwriters: 1 to 4 people
– Idol stages: 1 to 5 people

Songs:
All categories: 1 song for all groups in each category

New Rule:
– Once the performances are all done for that round, angel musicians may give an Angel Pass, which revives the contestant(s) who did not receive a Star Pass

1st place earns 3 points, 2nd earns 2 points, and 3rd place earns 1 point.

Stages:
– Vocal & Singer-songwriters: 1 to 3 people
– Idol stages: 1 to 5 people

New Rule:
– The teams that place third will be eliminated

Total Points For Each Category
1st place earns 3 points, 2nd earns 2 points, and 3rd place earns 1 point.

Episode 8-9 (Third Round):
Stages:
– Vocal & Singer-songwriters: 1 to 3 people
– Idol stages: 1 to 5 people

Hunter Game:
– The top rankers of each category select the opponents of the lower rankers of other categories to compete against them.

New Rule:
– The teams that lose against the team they’re against (since its mostly one on one) will be eliminated
– Whichever category wins will have the chance to revive someone that’s eliminated

Singer-songwriters (S.S): 2 (vs. I) -> 4 (vs. I)

Episode 10-11 (Semi-Finals):

Voting:
– Star Makers have 200 points for both rounds
– Angel Musicians have 800 points (100 for each angel musician) in the first round, and 400 (50 for each angel musician) points in the second round
– In the first round you can have up to 1000 points, and in the second round you can have up to 600 points

Extra:
– Angel Musicians finally get to criticize a performance face-to-face with the contestants

New Rule:
– The first round of the semi-finals is individual, while the second round is a rivalry match against your own category

Episode 12 (Finals):

Voting:
– The final judging criteria adds up to 3200 points in total: 1600 Angel Musician points (50%) + 800 pre-voting points (TikTok + 25%) + 800 text voting points (25%).
– 1st place gets 800 points, 2nd is calculated in proportion to the vote rate of 1st place.
