MAMAMOO Profile and Facts
MAMAMOO (마마무) is a 4-member South Korean girl group under Rainbow Bridge World. The group consists of Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa. They debuted on June 18, 2014 with their first mini album, Hello. On June 11, 2021, it was announced Wheein did not renew her contract with RBW. Hwasa was announced to not renew hers on June 27, 2023. Despite being under different agencies, all four members fully participate in group activities, however due to the separation the group is semi-inactive.
Group Name Meaning: “Mamamoo” is an onomatopoeia of a baby babbling, which represents MAMAMOO’s desire to make music that can be easily listened to by anyone around the world. Originally, the word was from scat singing, used as a title of a song written for Quincy Jones’ 2013 concert in South Korea which was preformed by MAMAMOO pre-debut at the event.

Fandom Name Meaning: ‘MooMoo’ is made from taking the ‘MOO’ from ‘MAMAMOO’. ‘Moomoo’ in Korean also means radish, which is a concept that is used for the fan base. The relationship originated from fans bringing radishes to support the group during performances during the time where they did not have an official lightstick. The lightstick is also has a radish motif.
