R U Next? (아 유 넥스트?) is a survival show produced by JAMM/Mushroom Company. The show was created by HYBE and JTBC. This show has a total of 22 participants. The voting is hold on Weverse. There are 7 competition rounds (gateways) based on potential, expression, genre adaptability, professionalism, distinctness, creativity, and star quality. The show started airing on June 30, 2023, and has a total of 10 episodes. The final lineup is set to form a six-member girl group, called ILLIT who will debut under BE:LIFT Lab somewhere between the end of 2023 and the first half of 2024.

Episode Links:
TRYOUT (Round 1):
– The trainees are graded individually and are divided into 7 units.
– There is high level ranks, middle ranks, and low levels. Whichever they will be placed in will affect the next round.
– If there is 4 members in a unit, 2 will be placed in the same level.
DEATH MATCH (Round 2):
– This round will be a test of the trainees’ expressive skills.
– Two level units will compete with the same song against each other and will be ranked individually.
– The 7 coaches will give scores ranging from 1 to 100 to each trainee.
– The average of the trainees’ scores will be the team’s score, and the team with the higher score wins.
– The team with the higher score gets 50 extra points.
– After the performances are over, the lowest 8 ranks are at risk of being eliminated.
ALL-ROUNDER (Round 3):
– The first part will contain a heel choreography battle while the second part contains a hip-hop battle.
– Benefit points for first place are 100 points, while second place gets 50 bonus points.
THE SPECIALISTS (Round 4):
– “Position Control Mission”
– The contestants will choose if they either want to be in the vocal team or dance team.
– After, the vocal team and dance teams will compete against the other team in the same category.
– Evaluation Method: 1-100 points are given by each judge (Highest is 800). The audience will vote on individual trainees (200 points), and the global votes (500 points) will be added to both the audience scores and the judges scores. Overall, the total is 4000 points.
CONCEPT GAME (Round 5):
– Contestants get to pick which concept they would like to cover based on the color of the door (green, red, and purple) and the group photo placed on each door.
– The limit of each group is 5 members, allowing higher rank contestants to kick people out.
– Evaluation Method: 1-100 points are given by each judge (Highest is 700). The audience will vote on individual trainees (200 points), and the global votes (500 points) will be added to both the audience scores and the judges scores. Also, the number #1 trainee will get an additional 100 points.
– The other half of the mission is the black mission. The units will have to choose a representative from their unit to perform on stage.
– The black mission’s score will be multiplied 5 times and added into each unit for the final round scores.
