Be Mbitious / Be Ambitious / 비엠비셔스 (Survival Show Special) Profile & Facts
‘Be Mbitious‘ is the prequel show to ‘Street Man Fighter’, which Mnet announced for the summer of 2022. ‘Street Man Fighter’ will be the male version of the popular ‘Street Woman Fighter‘ released on August 24, 2021. The show will feature various dance crews competing to be named Korea’s best male dance crew. The prequel ‘Be Mbitious’ follows the 48-hour period in which 40 solo dancers auditioned to join Mbitious, a dance crew expected to compete on ‘Street Man Fighter’. The special survival show, hosted by Rain, aired episodes back-to-back on May 24 and 25, 2022 at 10:20 PM KST. Highlights from the show, along with the dance battles, were also uploaded to The Choom’s official Youtube channel for oversees viewers.
After all entrants were first observed learning and performing a dance routine, they were ultimately pitted against each other. The competitors faced off in one-on-one choreographed and freestyle dance battles with one being chosen as the winner by judges and the other being eliminated. At the end of the two episodes 20 finalists were to be selected by judges to move onto the live voting round (on Youtube), which ended June 3 at 11:59 PM KST. The 8 winners who will join the crew Mbitious, are expected to be announced before or during ‘Street Man Fighter’.

Some notable dancers who auditioned, but did not make the show, include former B.A.P members Zelo and Moon Jongup, as well as DKB members Heechan and Junseo.

Be Mbitious Challenges:
Day 1 – “Hey Mama” Challenge:
Judges: Gabee & Peanut (LaChica), Honey J & Jane (Holy Bang)
The dancers were asked to learn Holy Bang and LaChica’s choreography for ‘Hey Mama’ in 3 hours. After performing for the judges, 20 of the 40 dancers were selected as “Respect Dancer”, which gave them the right to choose their opponent for the dance battle after carefully studying their profiles. In order to become a “Respect Dancer”, both Holy Bang and LaChica’s judges had to award them a “Respect” sticker; if either gave them a “Retry” sticker, they had to retry. After receiving “Retry” twice, they could make no more attempts. If a “Respect Dancer” chose a dancer, they could not/no longer attempt the challenge. The dancers had an additional 3 hours to practice individually, and during that time they could enter the challenge area in any order they wanted.

The Respect dancer won the ability to make short choreography to “SMF” by Changmo (the show’s intro theme song) which the challenged No Respect dancer had to copy. After that, the second portion of the dance battle featured each dancer freestyling to a short portion of a random track (different for each dancer). The 9 judges then selected the winner based on both dances. Ultimately, some battles ended with no winners and the judges decided to save some losing dancers, passing them on to the live voting round. * Winners in bold. Saved in italics.
