AN-J (アン・ジェイ) was a three-member Japanese girl group under avex tune, a subsidiary of avex trax. The group was formed in 1998. AN-J was also produced by the company Vision Factory, which is now known as Rising Production. They received intensive lessons in the USA in dance, vocals, and staging from a lineup of black instructors who were actively working in various elite fields, including a performance mentor that has worked with Chaka Khan, a gospel pianist that played for Diana Ross, and the choreographer for The Braxtons. They were also mentored by Jamie King and Roger Love. The lineup consisted of Chie, Remi, and Mika. They debuted on May 19, 1999, with the single 笑顔が見える場所〜I WANNA GO〜 (Egao ga Mieru Basho ~I WANNA GO~). Their last activity was on February 7, 2002, and they unofficially disbanded later that year after leaving Rising Production according to Remi’s old website. Remi mentions in her Ameba blog that they could have continued their activities if they had wanted to, but the members parted ways due to differences in creative direction.
