AOA: Where Are They Now?
AOA is a South Korean girl group under FNC Entertainment. They debuted on August 9th, 2012, and went on a hiatus in 2019. They’re currently inactive. Here’s the info on where the members and former members are now!

Choa

– On June 22nd, 2017, Choa left AOA due to insomnia and depression issues.
– She didn’t renew her contract with FNC Entertainment after it expired in May 2019.
– On August 6th, 2020, she recorded a song for the Korean drama, Men Are Men.
– On August 21st, 2020, Choa joined the former FNC founder’s new company, Great M Entertainment.
– Choa opened her YouTube channel, 초아 CHOA, in September 2020. Her channel is still active.
– She was appointed MC of Beauty Time Season 3.
– She released a song titled, Yesterday, on April 9th, 2022, and became the main host of Your Literacy+ in July of the same year.
– In November 2023, she joined the cast of the variety show, Diva Sisters.

Jimin

– On July 3rd, 2020, former bandmate Mina accused her of bullying. These accusations included Jimin putting Mina in a closed closet while she cried for her dying father and scolding her for being sad about her father’s situation.
– Jimin defended herself, and left AOA and the entertainment industry the next day.
– Jimin left FNC Entertainment after her contract with the company expired. She was seen a few times with her friend, Seolhyun, throughout the year.
– In 2021, Dispatch revealed conversations between Mina and Jimin where it could be seen that Jimin didn’t commit the things Mina accused her of.
– She released a song for her birthday on January 8th, 2022. She kept on composing music by herself for a while.
– On July 14th, 2022, she came back to the industry by signing with Alo Malo Entertainment.
– She released an extended play, Boxes, with the lead song, Sympathy, in February 2023.
– She left Alo Malo Entertainment after her contract expired in August of the same year.
– Jimin released her last digital single, Twinkle Little Star, on December 11th, 2023.

Yuna

– On January 1st, 2021, Yuna left both AOA and FNC Entertainment after the expiring of their contract.
– She became a yoga and pilates instructor, and started a hiatus from the entertainment industry. However, she continued as a composer and lyricist under the stage name, E.NA.
– She founded her own yoga and pilates studio in Seoul.
– She married a music composer, Kang Jung-hoon, known as Friday from Team GALACTIKA on February 18th, 2024.
– She shows her life and work on her Instagram account, @yn_s_1230.

Youkyung

–  Youkung left AOA in October 2016 to focus on her studies. She was supposed to continue as a guest member, but since AOA Black practically disbanded, she permanently left.
– Youkyung graduated with a Practical Music Major at Yewon Arts University in 2018.
– In May 2018, she became a drum teacher and started to make her own drumtabs.
– She uploads drum covers on her YouTube channel, 유즈드럼 You’s Drum.
– She started a drum duo with Zune Drummer called Y&Z PROJECT. They debuted on June 1st, 2020, with the single album, BOOT THE SYSTEM.
– Youkyung made her solo debut on October 19th, 2020, with her mini-album, CONNECT.

Hyejeong

– Hyejeong focused on her acting and musical career when the group went on a hiatus.
– She starred in the web drama, #LoveHashtag, and released the OST, Be the Light, for that same series.
– Hyejeong starred in the K-drama, Midnight Thriller – Supermodel; the musical film, Lovely Voice: The Beginning; the independent film, One-piece Dandelion; the short film, In the Process of Break-up; and the movie, The Hotel, from 2021 to 2022.
– Nothing was heard from her until she left FNC Entertainment and signed with the agency, TH COMPANY, in March 2023 to continue as an actress.

Mina

– Mina left AOA and FNC Entertainment after her contract with the company ended on May 13th, 2019.
– Mina signed with O& Entertainment on July 1st, 2019.
– She left the company and joined Woori Actors in 2020, but left the company in September of the same year.
– She posted gory self-harm photos on Instagram until July 3rd, 2020, when she accused former bandmate, Jimin, of bullying. These accusations included Jimin putting her in a closed closet while Mina cried for her dying father and Jimin then scolding her for being sad about her father’s situation.
– Mina revealed she had been hospitalized for a self-harm relapse in August 2020, then shared a photo of her slit wrist along with a suicide note but didn’t commit suicide. In one of her posts, she assured she missed ex-f(x)‘s Sulli, who had passed away the year before.
– In 2021, Dispatch revealed conversations between Mina and Jimin where it could be seen that Jimin didn’t commit the things Mina accused her of.
– Nothing has been heard from her since then.

Seolhyun

– Seolhyun left both AOA and FNC Entertainment in 2021 after the expiration of her contract.
– She left the public eye until she starred in the dramas, The Killer’s Shopping List and Summer Strike, in 2022.
– She seems to have left the entertainment industry and now lives a normal, non-idol life.
– She shares moments of her life on her Instagram, @s2seolhyuns2.

Chanmi (Dohwa)

– After AOA’s hiatus, she participated in reality programs, dramas, and variety shows such as Lifetime’s AOA DaSaDanang Heart Attack Danang, Love Formula 11M, and MBC’s House of Sharing in 2019.
– On June 29th, 2021, she co-starred along with VIXX‘s Hyuk in the rom-com movie, A Different Girl.
– On April 25th, 2022, Chanmi changed her surname from Kim to Im, to follow her mother’s last name. Her mother was the one who supported Chanmi throughout her life and career, and this was her daughter’s way to pay tribute to her.
– Chanmi was the last member to leave FNC Entertainment. She left the agency on November 8th, 2022.
– She joined the virtual competition show, Girls Reverse, in 2023, but didn’t make it to the final group.
– Chanmi joined Mnet’s Queendom Puzzle on May 27th, 2023, but was eliminated in the final episode, ranking 14th overall, on August 16th of the same year.
– On January 14th, 2024, Chanmi changed her public name to Im Do-hwa for all her future activities.
– She’s now pursuing an acting career.
