THE CALLA LILY ROUNDUP - ULTIMATE ROUNDUP

Well. End of Spring is coming and so is the end of my exams. I want to give a huge thank you to everyone for their patience regarding this CALLA hiatus, and for continuing to support me even when I haven’t been active with this group. Seeing CALLA be welcomed back so warmly with the announcement of End of Spring has filled me with so much happiness, so I hope that CALLA can return to being a beloved group to you all. That being said, I haven’t made a Calla Lily round up since March 26th and despite my hiatus they have actually been up to stuff. So! I think it’s time we dive back into CALLA. Everybody ready?
Oh yeah, I’m going to experiment with a new layout for the roundups, perhaps it’ll be easier to process them this way!

CALLA UPDATES:
In early April, Juni’s vlog was released. In the vlog we learnt that Juni’s mother was who got her into cooking and the two made a hot pot together. Sadly, Juni’s twin brother was working so he was unable to participate in the vlog.
Juni’s parents also adorably covered Rumor, even though it seemed to embarrass Juni a little
During the vlog however, Juni announced she’d decided to take on participating in COS. COS Super Nova covered Big Bang’s Bang Bang Bang, which was received positively by fans
CALLA also won Best Artist and Fiks Bank, a prize they were very grateful for due to feeling like their hard work was paying off
Emma unfortunately had to take a hiatus from April to May due to undisclosed health concerns. It was revealed that CALLA were suppose to have a single album comeback which the other four members decided to cancel due to not wanting to promote without Emma. Fans were upset but understood and waited patiently for Emma’s return
Yejoon and Juni however released a single that they had began to create on a fiklive. The song titled ‘Lovin’ Me’ was not an official comeback but was positively received, and fans have been trying to push for CALLA to get involved in creating more songs for the group
In May, CALLA did a special stage of KARA’s ‘STEP’. Fans believed the song may have been chosen to the similarity between the two group’s names. The stage was very well received with fans welcoming Emma back to the group warmly and believing the cover stage was a sign the group would comeback soon
Finally, mid June, CALLA’s 2nd full album comeback was announced titled ‘End of Spring’. The comeback announcement had quite a summery pallet making fans think that this comeback will be more summery and girl crush compared to their previous releases. Fans are excited to see what will come from this comeback, scheduled for June 25th

INTERACTIONS:
Fans were happy to see Juni interact with Minyoung of RO5EY in COS Super Nova due to their friendship being known but not seeing the two hang out very much @roaxy
CALLA attended Enchantress’s 1 year anniversary concert and took photos with the girls. Fans loved the interaction and support the CALLA members gave @LostInTheDream
Zoe of Enchantress also revealed that she and Emma had a joint birthday celebration due to the fact their birthday’s were so close together and that Zoe was going away for the tour by Emma’s actual birthday @LostInTheDream
Sophia participated in MYTHOS’s Antifragile challenge, something which impressed many fans due to her flexibility thanks to her time doing cheerleading. They also enjoyed seeing CALLA interact with the younger sisters of Enchantress @LostInTheDream
Lily are also excited to see the debut of two girls who appeared alongside Hyunjoo, Sophia and Yejoon in the 2021 MeHoney trainee showcase. Kahyun and Huihyeon (or Kayeon and Jiwon) are going to debut in LR Entertainment’s group Reveily, a company under the FortyForty Label’s branch

OTHER:
Hyunbin, the brother of Hyunjoo, along with his dance group, acted as backup dances on the Korean leg of Enchantress’s tour, which many fans were excited to see @LostInTheDream

IF CALLA WERE ON QUEENDOM PUZZLE…

Note: I know that @LostInTheDream did something kind of like this but this is different and also something I have been thinking about before

Based on episodes 1&2

HYUNJOO
Hyunjoo’s “character” on Queendom Puzzle would be the kind and encouraging Unnie. She would be very supportive of all the participants but especially the younger ones and would most likely give upvotes to the majority of performances (sort of like Miru).
For her performance, she would do quite a bubbly and fun song but with intense choreography. For Hyunjoo I’ve chosen the song Bubble Pop. I feel like she’d be quite similar to Yujin on Girl’s Planet.
Her upvotes and downvotes would be quite evenly split. She would get 15 upvotes to 12 downvotes and she would be thankful but it would encourage her to work harder.
For the signal song mission, Hyunjoo would perform the song Charismatic.

SOPHIA
Sophia would be a very lively and notable figure on Queendom Puzzle. People would be stunned by her visuals and intimidated by her loud personality. She would have a very confident personality.
For her song, she would do Tail by SUNMI. She would do something quite deep and sexy and I think Tail would be perfect for that.
Despite her strong performance she would only get 19 upvotes and 8 downvotes.
For the signal song mission she would choose SNAP.

JUNI
Juni would be quite quiet, with only her reactions being shown really, though she would get a lot of screen time and would be shown being polite to other contestants.
For her song, originally I was going to say she would do Uh-Oh by (G)I-DLE to show off both vocals and rap however I’m changing my mind! I think Juni would do Hello B*tches by CL, which would be a very shocking performance that would catch people’s attention.
She would receive 21 upvotes and only 6 downvotes.
For the signal song mission, Juni would perform SNAP.

EMMA
Emma wouldn’t really get much screen time but whenever she is on screen she would be bright and happy. I think she would get more screen time after the first couple episodes as she slowly establishes herself as a threat.
For her song, I’ve chosen Violeta by IZ*ONE as it is upbeat and bright but also quite elegant with quick sharp dance moves. She would bring a slightly more mature sound to it though.
Her performance would do okay, getting 16 upvotes and 11 downvotes.
For the signal song mission, Emma would perform Charismatic.

YEJOON
Yejoon would be very similar to Chaeyeon. Yejoon knows she is talented and is also very harsh. She would vote very objectively and give mostly downvotes.
For her song, she would perform CALLA’s Eung Eung (aka Apink). She would bring a very mature and elegant stage with very mesmerising vocals. However she would only get 21 upvotes. Her final score would make her quite mad and she would 100% check to see who downvoted her and see them as her enemy.
For the signal song mission Yejoon would perform Snap.

I sorta wish I had decided to put Hyunjoo and Yejoon on QP before it began to air but oh well. This is how I imagine it would go for all 5 girls if they were actually on the show​

I feel very disorganised making 3 videos today but I did it and Love or Die and Blind Letter were pains to make so BE GRATEFUL (be grateful!)

Sorry for the day wait.
I'm not 100% sure if these are going to remain weekly as before. I said yesterday a bunch of mini notices would be embeded with this roundup and here are a few of them:

On the 21st of June, CALLA revealed their tracklist for End of Spring. The album contains 9 songs, with member Juni having 3 credits and members Yejoon and Emma having 1. Fans were excited to see Juni gathering more credits, with Yejoon and Emma also contributing to a CALLA album for the first time
On the 23rd of June, track 1 (Friday Night) had a surprise release, with a dance performance video. The song received a lot of positive reception due to its upbeat sound which felt like a party. The video itself though got some underwhelming responses due to the low budget, but fans agreed it was only a bside track so it didn't matter too much
Finally, on the 25th of June, the full album 'End of Spring' dropped. The title track, Egotistic, broke CALLA's 24hr music video streams record with 13.53 million streams, beating MAGO which had 10.01 million in the first 24hrs
In the Egotistic music video, Sophia had several pole dancing scenes again
CALLA are set to begin promotions for Egotistic on The Show on Tuesday
CALLA are also scheduled to appear in an interview on Tuesday for End of Spring
Juni and Hyunjoo have received a lot of praise due to their clear improvements in their vocal abilities

On an episode of Unniez, rookie idol Yeona from Celestia revealed she was a trainee at MeHoney Entertainment. Fans are now eager for Yeona to interact with the CALLA members, especially whichever ones she trained with. Fans believe it's most likely she would've trained with Hyunjoo and Sophia due to the fact they'd been training from 2017 and 2018 respectively, while other members were more recent @LostInTheDream

Within 24hrs of the announcement of End of Spring, the hashtages #CALLASummerIsComing and #CALLASummerQueens began trending under the Kpop tag
After the release of End of Spring, many Lily began to state it's their favourite album, due to the variety of sounds and it's summery feel. However, some Lily expressed concerns that many of the songs didn't sound like CALLA's original sound. This caused an argument on Lily twt with many saying they'd had to wait 4 months for the comeback, and so that the complaining Lily were ungrateful
Some of the line distributions for End of Spring raised some concerns amongst Lily. The biggest offenders were Friday Night, Firework and Milkshake. In particular Firework which was accused of severely favouring Sophia. Sopha argued particularly with Emmarine who defended Milkshake saying that loads of Emma's lines were ad libs and therefore she didn't actually get that many lines. Surprisingly, Juli were left alone despite Juni's Blind Letter lines, likely due to the fact Juni got to rap a lot more on End of Spring than she did in No More Fairytale
There were many fan wars between Lily and outside fandoms due to concerns about how "appropriate" some of the songs on the album were. Some people complained that Egotistic was too sexy and provocative, with Sophia's pole dancing being questioned yet again. Lily pointed out all of the CALLA adults are adults and debuted as adults, therefore can do a more mature concept if they want. The song Milkshake has also been questioned, with Juli arguing Juni didn't seem like the sort of person to write an inuendo song, but even if she did, Juni was an adult and was allowed

COMEBACK INTERVIEW

Interviewer: Well hello everyone welcome back to the show. I’m sure everyone is extremely excited for this interview… I know I am anyway! They’ve returned after a four month hiatus, four months! It’s been too intense. But finally, we have our beloved CALLA back. It’s amazing to see you all again
Hyunjoo: 3, 2, 1
All: Make me bloom, hi we are CALLA
Interviewer: I’ve missed hearing that
Juni: We’ve missed saying it
Interviewer: *Laughs* I’m sure you have. So then, four months… What took you girls so long?
Hyunjoo: Ah I know, we’re so sorry. We never intended for the hiatus to be this long
Sophia: We did have a single album planned between No More Fairytale and our new album, End of Spring, but we chose to cancel it
Juni: Yes, the track Friday Night was going to be the title track and Cherry was going to be the bside

Interviewer: I see! Those songs do go well together I must admit. I suppose we can’t be too upset about that cancelled comeback though because we got this lovely full album full of amazing tracks. I suppose to start with is the most important question: what are everyone’s favourite tracks?
Sophia: Uh for me, I think my personal favourite has to be Firework. I had a great time recording it, I think it suited me really well, so yes Firework is my favourite. I like Love or Die a lot as well, it’s right up my street
Emma: For me personally, my favourite is probably Blind Letter because I wrote the lyrics for it. It means a lot to me because I wrote it during my break. It helped me express myself a bit
Juni: For me, I wrote quite a few songs so I have quite a few favourites because like Emma I am attached to all of them. So yeah, our title track Egotistic is definitely a favourite, and so are Milkshake and Cherry. A nice pairing *chuckles*
Hyunjoo: For me, I love Milkshake and Ladi Dadi a lot. I had such a fun time recording them. I think they’re really fun and cute songs so I think Lily will enjoy them a lot too
Yejoon: I like Friday Night and Egotistic a lot. I felt I got to show off my vocals nicely in both of them so they make me very proud. Oh but I also composed Lips so it’s special to me too

Interviewer: Not a single song failed to be mentioned! That’s how you know it’s a great album. And so many credits too. How many credits does everyone have now?
Juni: I have five songs now
Interviewer: Rumor was the first yes?
Juni: Yes, and now I have Lovin’ Me, Egotistic, Milkshake and Cherry too
Yejoon: Lips is my second credit after working on Lovin’ Me too
Emma: And this is my first!
Interviewer: Do Hyunjoo and Sophia have plans to work on songs?
Hyunjoo: I think we’d both like to, yeah?
Sophia: Right now I don’t think I’m the best at song writing but I think I’d like to eventually yeah, I just need some inspiration

Interviewer: A very talented group, but let’s dive deeper I think. Let’s start with the title track, Egotistic. Emma would you like to explain it a little?
Emma: Yep. Egotistic is CALLA’s fifth title track, I can’t believe we’ve already reached number five. It’s about realising your self worth and dumping someone who doesn’t respect you. And then we gave it a very intense summer sound
Interviewer: It strays quite far from your original sound doesn’t it?
Sophia: I see a lot of people saying this but I personally like to think that Egotistic is MAGO if you set it on fire
Juni: Eh?
Sophia: I don’t know. I think the essence is the same Egotistic it’s just so much more intense
Yejoon: You say such bizarre things sometimes

Interviewer: Speaking of MAGO, Sophia, you’ve brought back the pole dancing into the Egotistic music video
Sophia: Indeed I did. After MAGO was released I saw a lot of people online complaining that it wasn’t appropriate and that they hated it and I thought to myself wow… they seem really mad… I should do it again
Interviewer: Really? *Laughs*
Hyunjoo: As the leader of CALLA, it frustrates me when people think they can tell my members mean things about them. At first I told Sophia not to do it because again I didn’t want her to get more hate but-
Sophia: But I basically just said if I do it again because I want them to react badly, it puts them in a paradox right? Because they say stuff to hurt me and make me mad, but if I do it to annoy them specifically, if they get mad they’re just giving me what I want. They can’t win now
Interviewer: That’s strangely genius. I think they’re probably just jealous because you’re such a talented idol. I saw your Mythos Antifragile dance cover, your flexibility was impressive
Sophia: Oh… thank you *laughs*

Interviewer: So, album name: End of Spring, what’s the meaning behind this?
Hyunjoo: I think our group had a tough spring, which also led to Lily having a bad spring because they spent all three months without us. But now we’re back, spring is over meaning there is a happier summer ahead of us. It’s that feeling of escaping that time to a better brighter time as a group
Interviewer: What a nice meaning
Emma: I think it’s quite specific to our group because most people do like spring because it’s pretty. But I guess it can also just be seen as celebrating the hottest and brightest season of the year if you had a good spring

Interviewer: *Chuckles* Of course. Let’s discuss some of the other tracks. Friday Night was going to be a title track but has been demoted to a promotional bside?
Sophia: The unfortunate fate of Friday Night…
Yejoon: It’s a song we cherish a lot but I think Egotistic was a better fit for the overall title track
Interviewer: Both songs are definitely great
Emma: I feel like Friday Night is a good song to celebrate the beginning of summer, it’s like a party. A summer Friday night

Interviewer: Absolutely! Anyway, we spoke about Egotistic earlier but I’m interested to hear about some of the other tracks the members themselves have worked on. Juni do you want to start with Milkshake?
Juni: Milkshake is a song I wrote when I was staying with my parents back home. I made a milkshake and it inspired me to write a song about milkshakes. In the end I chose to write a song about love through the metaphor of milkshakes, because love can be so sweet and addictive too
Interviewer: A lovely meaning, what about Cherry? What inspired that one?
Juni: I wasn’t really anticipating having both Milkshake and Cherry on the same album but they have two very distinct but different summer sounds I think. Milkshake is a lot more fun and silly while Cherry is a lot more chic. Cherry also has more rap which I did purposefully to encourage Yejoon and Emma to rap more
Interviewer: Of course, they both did a good job with that
Yejoon: I’m a little traumatised from rapping on Where You Are if I’m honest so I was dreading Cherry but I don’t know I think it fits my vibe well
Hyunjoo: That’s true, Cherry is such a Yejoon song

Interviewer: And Emma, you wrote Blind Letter? Care to share a bit about that? It’s quite an emotional song
Emma: Ah… yeah. I wrote the song while I was on a break. It was a time where I felt quite empty and not myself. It sort of expresses the feelings of longing for someone and their happy summer memories. I felt hesitant sharing the song but the members have been really supportive of it which makes me feel proud and ready to share it with Lily
Interviewer: I’m sure Lily will absolutely love the song
Emma: They better or I’ll never write again
Juni: Everyone please support our Nayeonie’s song so she doesn’t give up something she’s good at

Interviewer: And of course, Lips written by Yejoon. Please share a little more about it
Yejoon: Lips has a pretty tropical sound, I think it’s the most summery on the album to be honest. Perhaps closely followed by Love or Die and Firework. I listened to many tropical sounds in order to get the right rhythm and instruments. I wanted it to be very gentle and relaxing but a little bit sassy as well. Something you can easily listen to at the beach in the hot sun or something
Interviewer: I’ll definitely be listening all summer I can’t lie
Emma: Yejoon did a great job *claps*

Interviewer: Okay so, now you’re back from hiatus, what are your plans?
Sophia: As a group we’re already deciding what comes next. By our next comeback, we’ll probably already be a year old as a group
Interviewer: One year? Already?
Hyunjoo: I don’t know how I’ve kept this group together to be honest. They’re a mess
Emma: But you love us *sticks her tongue out*
Interviewer: Do you have plans for your one year anniversary?
Juni: We’ve been discussing this with the company a lot recently… there’s definitely something there… we just need to get it organised
Yejoon: We definitely want to do something big
Interviewer: World tour big?
All: *Various forms of no*
Hyunjoo: We would definitely like to go on a world tour but our one year is too close to organise something like that now. But fans should remain excited nevertheless

Yejoon: This album has technically been in progress since April. That was when we recorded Friday Night and Cherry
Sophia: Cherry was a pain to record, it took the longest time. Because it's a rap song. There were like one or two parts parts which tripped me up a bit
Juni: You did well Unnie
Sophia: Thank you
Yejoon: Cherry tripped me up as well. I'm really not that good at rap I don't know why the company keeps insisting I rap
Emma: It was Juni who wrote the song to be a rap song though
Juni: I wanted you to realise your talents!
Yejoon: My talents are singing not rapping
Juni: Shh, you're good at both
Hyunjoo: As for the rest of the song? I remember the recording of Ladi Dadi a lot, because I had to sing the same thing so many times, and the part was so long. I felt like I was going to pass out at one point
Sophia: You killed Ladi Dadi though
Hyunjoo: Thank you
Juni: I remember Blind Letter well because we did the recording together. For a lot of songs we take it in turns to record the song. The rest do whatever they want and come to the booth when they are called. But Blind Letter has many harmony moments in it where we all had to sing together. So we had to sit around and watch each other do their parts

Lily commenter: Stories from recording Egotistic?
Hyunjoo: I mean some of the events that took place will be shown in our behind series videos but I suppose sharing one wouldn't hurt
Emma: Daiyu-Unnie fell from the pole
Sophia: I didn't fall! I chose to let go and didn't land gracefully
Yejoon: She 100% fell she's just embarassed
Juni: It's why most of the scenes are on the ground. She got scared
Sophia: No! I'm just out of practice stop!
Hyunjoo: Wow... how the tables turn. Usually Sophia is the one ripping into me
Sophia: *Sulking* why can't we share a happy group story from recording
Yejoon: Jooyeon-Unnie got scared of the fire at the end
Juni: That isn't a happy group story
Yejoon: It kind of was because she got teary and we all hugged her and told her it would be okay
Juni: I didn't realise the fire was going to be real
Emma: It was pretty intense. It was so hot as well
Hyunjoo: Overall I think the recording quite well. It was really sunny the whole time and the styling was so pretty

Lily commenter: How are you guys enjoying being younger again?
Sophia: For me, I'm used to international age. It's completely normal for me. I was all messed up when I first came to Korea and went from being 18 to 19. I felt so old all of a sudden. The others though, it's a complete mess...
Emma: Daiyu-Unnie immediately started making Hyunjoo-Unnie also call her Daiyu-Unnie
Sophia: I'm 23 I'm an elder, she's only 22

Juni: Working every day for a month straight
Yejoon: Lily we're not over-exaggerating this. I don't think we'll have a single day to rest until September
Sophia: The Wren Media's Summer Music Festival will be coming up at the end of July, we have to prepare stages for that, we have our anniversary plans which we need to prepare for, and the company are already in talks about the next comeback. Really, we have no time anymore

Lily commenter: Next comeback already?? This soon?
Emma: Sophia-Unnie probably shouldn't have said that
Juni: It'll be in several months time. But preparing a comeback always takes a lot of planning in advance. We don't have the song name or demo or anything yet so maybe that part was exaggerated. But the company is already asking us to think of a concept and mood board for what we want to do
Sophia: We had three months of not busy, now it's time for three months of busy

Lily commenter: What are some songs you like at the moment?
Yejoon: For me I quite like Queencard by (G)I-DLE and S-Class by Stray Kids. I think they're both good and catchy
Juni: I like those songs too!
Emma: For me, I like Seventeen's Super right now
Hyunjoo: For me I like Celestia's song Underwater
Sophia: Oh yeah! Yeona's song! It's so catchy but so hard to sing as well
