Okay I have 2 I would like to share, one very minor but the other bigger.

Minor one is I do not like when people try to assign positions to groups that already have positions (it's a little different with no position groups because there's no right or wrong positions in these cases so it's more subjective). Of course, people are allowed to prefer one dancer over another, or one vocalist over another, but discrediting those with main/lead positions thinking you just know better than the members of the group and the compant that trained them is kinda ridiculous. The companies don't give out positions willy-nilly, they have to think carefully about who's getting what based not only on talent but how well they can manage this position. THE WORST IS WHEN PEOPLE DO IT WITH LEADERS. How can you sit there and think to yourself you know who would be better suited to lead a group than the group themselves who trained together all this time. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes so how can you act like you know who'd be better at managing these people.

As for the second, I touched on it briefly in the comments of @sanasideup status, however I want to elaborate more here: I think the main reason people hate minors debuting is because they're jealous. Of course, the K-Pop industry is very cut-throat and ruthless so I do think a lot of people have genuine concern about under 18s entering the industry, but especially with other under 18s criticising the choices of these idols parents and the idols themselves, acting like they should be living a "normal life like everyone else", yeah ofc it's sad to think you "don't get a normal childhood" but are you sure there's not this feeling of "how come I'm sat in school struggling to make friends and feeling crappy about the way I look" and then seeing someone your age becoming internationally famous, with thousands of fans spending money on them, and they get to wear posh outfits and wear nice makeup and perform in fancy arenas. Like yeah it's normal but it's a hell of a lot more interesting than a normal life, and I think that might be a driving factor to why people hate it so much, even if these are subconcious thoughts
i agree 1000% with both of these. every time i've seen someone expressing genuine concern over idols debuting too young bc they're concerned abt the idol's mental heath and self-image due to entering such a, as you said, cut-throat and ruthless industry, at a young age, they've been adults, at least in their early 20s. every time i've seen a minor complaining, there's that jealousy.

here's an unpopular opinion regarding one specific type of unpopular opinions: you have no right to comment on aegyo. unless you're korean, don't be stating your opinion on a cultural thing. however you feel abt it, keep it to yourself. why? bc you're not korean. i'm sick of ppl saying they like/don't like aegyo. if it's not your culture, be quiet and listen to ppl in that culture. if an idol is clearly uncomfortable with the aegyo, then you can speak up against the idol being uncomfortable, not the aegyo itself. you can defend the idol bc they're human too and don't deserve to be forced to do something they're not comfortable with. you cannot, however, be against the actual aegyo unless you're korean.

stop normalizing the phase of a kpop stans life where they only stan bts, then find new groups and start hating bts. that's weird. why do a lot of kpop stans do that? they go from baby army to stanning a bunch a people with more resentment towards bts than their faves have awards. jeez

probably jealousy, tbh. ppl are jealous of bts's success and want that for their faves. i used to only listen to bts and blackpink, but, like you, i've found groups i enjoy more, and i don't really listen to bts anymore. i'm not gonna gate on them, tho. they worked hard to get to where they're at, just like every other group.

yeah i mean some idols seem visibly uncomfortable with doing it, but others don't, so why is it our place as people who aren't even part of the culture to decide if they should do it or not. also not just with aegyo but a lot of things (another example is showing respect to seniors), a lot of us don't understand what's right and wrong in korea and should not be the ones judging

I don't think this is unpopular cos it should be common sense; not "Army" tweeting disgusting things about Johnny after these stupid Jimin x Johnny Dispatch dating rumors (had a good laugh with that one ngl like I'm not against the idea of two male idols dating but these two are likely impossible to actually be a thing). This is exactly why I dislike associating with this fandom even though I still like and listen to BTS. They're so freaking embarassing >< 🏳🏳 I'm not bashing all Army, just the toxic ones. 🏳🏳

same. i've been trying to think of idols that might do that. some of my other guesses are lee know and han, felix and changbin, felix and hyunjin, nayeon and sana, chaeyoung and mina, chaeyoung and sana.

I started as an ARMYLuv (ReVeLuv and ARMY) but I also found other groups I enjoyed, I don't listen to BTS much nowadays, But I helped out my cousin who's a newbie fan to get to know them better and I do check out to see if there's anything new

well, that helped me make another series: whenever ppl 1st start getting into kpop is when they're most likely to be in that weird, obsessive phase. and what group do they usually find first? bts. so once ppl outgrow that initial overboard phase, they're embarrassed by it, so they hate on bts by proxy. not bc they have anything against the group, but bc it reminds them of their cringey kpop fan phase.

Dating in kpop will not be normalized for a very long time. Most people say they "don't care" but then when a couple get revealed, people get really excited and some get angry. Like what happened from Jinyoung of D1CE and Heejin of LOONA. People thought they were dating so orbits and non loona stans went to Jinyoung's latest tweet to make fun of his looks saying Heejin could do better and ratioed him with hate comments (the ratio was fixed by fans who aren't complete fools who love and support Heejin and Jinyoung), then when BBC confirmed that the two weren't dating, people starting celebrating. And no one thought to question it and look at how they were acting. Goes to show how dating in kpop will never truly be normal. People making countdowns and staying up to see who will be exposed this New Year, even more proof. Why do we act shocked if dating is normal? Of course they're dating, they're people too. They are capable of love and they are within their rights to date. Unless it's toxic or just wrong (legally, morally, etc) Also people frothing at the mouth for a gay couple to be exposed is so weird. You're excited to see someone be outed against their will? You're excited for the hate and homophobic attacks on the internet they'll receive?? You're excited that their career could end, they could lose family, friends, and fans, and they could suffer from it mentally?? That's what you want?? Doesn't make sense to me. Just let these people date. Dispatch needs to be sued and people need to stop trying to fantasize about these idols and their love lives. It's creepy./srs /lu

Thiiiissss, it's really sad that the kpop industry has normalised treating kpop stars as commercial products. They are deprived of so much already but something we would comsider normal is considered scandalous in the kpop world. I partially blame it on their marketing scheme. Since it's been the norm since very early in kpop, marketing the kpop stars as "everyone's boyfriend/girlfriend" is actually disturbing to me. Like they aren't objects, they are real people, with lives, feelings etc why is that considered normal. Yes it's normal to fangirl but if you compare and contrast kpop to the music industries around the world, no one else has as many sasaengs as kpop does or something similar, no one usually bats an eyelash if a celebrity is dating, like they get married even, have kids and no one cares. But a culture has been created in the kpop world that, having such things is not normal, and to this day, after 12 years in kpop I do not understand why they thought it would be OK. If all the other industries could survive without that mentality then what would have made kpop any different?they weren't thinking about the boys and girls who would become stars, they were thinking about the money and that was the new of that. Now look where it's gotten us. Taeyeon and Baek, Kai and Krystal, chen, the Chanyeol situation, Bobby. Like all those instances resulted in this unjustified anger from fans that I found absolutely stupid, selfish and I felt ashamed to be associated with that. Kai and Jennie, and Taeyang's, Joy and Crush situations are a rarity. Kai and Jennie shocked me with the amount of positive feedback, like I was happy for them but was definitely scared for them as well. Taeyang being a senior and VIPs being one of the more chill fandoms if I can say that definitely contributed to the response but I tell you if this happened with BTS thing would end well. And that upsets me. After all the kpop stars have sacrificed, their childhoods and having a normal life just to achieve their dreams, tho it shouldn't be something we even have to worry about in the first place, isn't the least we can do be letting them have normalcy in some regard?
