INTERVIEW WITH THE CALLA MEMBERS: In Trouble? Full Album? And More
In order to celebrate their first comeback with 'Pink.Aura', girl group CALLA sat down to an interview in order to discuss their release and future as a group.
Leader Hyunjoo began by talking about title track 'Eung Eung', saying how she felt it was a great continuation from previous song Love Dive due to the mysterious and enchanting feel both songs have to them. When asked if she thinks their next song has a similar vibe, she added that she loves the current concept CALLA is doing, but hopes for their next comeback they can put something new on the table, to which the other members agreed, before Sophia chimed in saying "if we even get a comeback".
When asked what this meant, Emma explained that prior to the company's official announcement of the comeback, the members had been posting comeback spoilers on their social media hinting towards the release.
"It started with me simply showing off the pink highlights I had done for the music video shooting. But then Juni posted a caption that was just a line from our bside AURA. The company was so mad, and made us attend a meeting, saying if in the future we ever spoilt a comeback in advance without permission again, we'd be kicked from the company." - Emma
Juni then explained that after the warning, the company said since they'd already begun spoilers, the rest of the members were permitted to hint if they wished.
"Hyunjoo was originally against it, but gave in by the end" - Yejoon
Sophia prides herself for having the spoiler the least people were able to solve, though of course now we know hers was in reference to the lyrics of Eung Eung saying "that is not enough".
Moving back to the comeback, Emma spoke fondly of both Eung Eung and Aura, saying both songs captured the magic of CALLA completely, and showed off their talents well. Hyunjoo and Yejoon both said Eung Eung was their favourite song on the album, while Sophia, Juni and Emma confessed they actually prefer AURA.
"I think Eung Eung was the best choice for a title track, but AURA has this certain feel to it that we fell in love with. I think Lily will like AURA too" - Sophia
Juni also mentioned she really liked her rap in AURA, though she was glad this time around she got to rap in their title track too, even if it was a short rap section.
When the group was asked whether for their comeback, they'd treat fans to a full album for their next release, the members all pondered a bit, unsure what to say. Sophia rushed in, not without her wit of course, saying:
"I hope this promise won't get us in trouble again, but if CALLA can get their first win, we will have the release after that as a full album. Lily you know what to do!" - Sophia
Hyunjoo slapped her arm jokingly, but confessed it sounded like a nice promise to fans, but they would need permission from the CEO in order for it to go ahead.
Hyunjoo was also asked what it was like participating as part of COS: Dawn with their cover stage of 'Into The New World' by SNSD. Hyunjoo says the experience was really fun, as she got to meet a bunch of new faces and participate in a project different from CALLA.
"The part I covered was Sunny's. I respect her so much, but she is a lead vocalist while I am a main dancer, so I felt some pressure thinking I wasn't fit for the role. Not only this, I was learning her parts while also trying to prepare with my own members for Pink.Aura. It was intense but I'm so glad I did it" - Hyunjoo
When the other members were asked whether they'd want to participate in COS one day, they all showed interest.

Yejoon finished with saying she would quite like to take on a vocally challenging song, such as MAMAMOO's Decalcomanie, or instead something a bit more girl crush, such as BLACKPINK's DDU-DU DDU-DU.

If I had been active this week I wouldβve announced CALLA received their first music show nomination on Thursday, but sadly they lost. This is one step in the right direction for the group, and fans are hopeful they will become more successful in the near future

BEHIND THE CALLA
Construction of PINK.AURA
Concept
In kpop, I have this formula on how to create a strong debut. The formula name is slightly misleading, as it doesnβt only apply to the debut song, but all 3 of the first songs a group will release. I think I took this theory from someone else, but ah well, I will explain it to you anyway (though I wonβt mention part 3 of the theory yet, you can wait till the next CALLA comeback for that hehe).
First, the debut song should tell fans what to expect from your group as a main concept. You donβt have to stick with this later on necessarily to the exact, but it should at least reflect your aims as a group to some extent. Love Dive is CALLAβs debut, and I think it reflects the elegant and mysterious concept I envision for them.
The 1st comeback should solidify to fans what they will be expecting from you. Not every group does this in Kpop, for example groups like Red Velvet and Billlie donβt tend to stick with one concept for their comebacks, and so having a completely new concept is actually more representative for them. But for CALLA, I needed a second song that would represent them.
Some examples of groups who follow my formula include:
MAMAMOO (Mr Ambiguous + Piano Man), TWICE (Like Ooh-Ahh + Cheer Up), Cherry Bullet (Q&A + Really Really), IVE (Eleven + Love Dive).
So, for CALLAβs comeback, we needed a song that was reminiscent of Love Dive, in that it is elegant, beautiful and somewhat mysteriousβ¦
Tracklist
Shoot Your Shot consisted of five songs, however PINK.AURA was a very fast comeback in the timeline, Iβd say around a 3 month gap in real time (though obviously in this fake universe it was a 1 month gap LOLOL). Because of this rushed first comeback, I felt if this group was real, releasing another mini or bigger album would be too intense. So I wanted two songs.
I also wanted to show to everyone Iβm not gonna take the piss every time I make an album. So neither of the songs are sung by a CALLA face claim this time.
So I have a concept, a number and a rule. Letβs choose the songs!
Eung Eung was released in Winter 2019, not long before I became a Kpop fan. I remember hearing the song a lot in ranking videos in 2019, and I really loved both the song and the music video. Itβs a song I consider an immortal song for me. Itβs elegant, mature and, most importantly, none of the Apink members have a CALLA face claim. So, I think youβd all agree, Eung Eung is an amazing comeback choice for the formula, and therefore CALLA too.
As for the bside? Well. Not much thought went into this one ngl. AURA was the song performed by WJSN in the Queendom finale. WJSN are my semi-ults Iβve decided literally as I write this, but I think that was fairly obvious anyway. And I felt AURA would just really suit each individual member of CALLA in different ways. Yeonjung and Soobin are amazing main vocalists like Yejoon, EXY is one of the top female rappers right now in my eyes, like Juni, and there are many lower and beautiful vocal parts for Sophia. In contrast there are higher parts for Hyunjoo. As for Emma? Well her voice suited all the rest, my versatile queen.
While on the subject of AURA though, some may have noticed that I cut the intro part of the song sung by Seola in the lyric card. Thatβs because I donβt think it fits the actual song, and didnβt want it. Not that deep lol.
For the album name itself, originally (yes I actually have an old piece of information that I remember), the album name was %PINK.AURA, because it reminded me of computing code where you put a % in alongside your command or something, and . goes with file names. Furthermore, obviously the actual title of Eung Eung is %%, so it reflects that too. But I changed my mind in the end, as Eung Eung isnβt really that based around technology. Instead, I named the album PINK.AURA. The Pink comes from the pink theme of Eung Eung, and the AURA fromβ¦ AURA.
Concept photos
So, the album is PINK.aura. Can you guess what the theme for the concept photos was? BLUE!
Jokes it was pink.
I literally googled βpink concept photosβ many times, and mostly blackpink came up, but there were 2 reasons I couldnβt use blackpink. 1, not all their photos are pink. 2, they have 4 members, and CALLA has 5. Anyways, I did instead find a set of TWICE concept photos (I believe were a Japanese comeback but I'm not 100% sure) and Real Love by Oh My Girl. So those were the original sets. Now something that Iβve left out up until now is my original photos I made for this comeback got lost. So, during the process of replacing them I decided I didnβt want to use the TWICE photos anymore, so I found BLOOM*IZ instead. Now, why doesnβt Yejoon have Yujinβs concept photo? Because Yujin had blue hair and thatβs not very pink of her smh. Anyways, that was the concept photos selection
First nomination
So. If we ignore the fact I spent the CALLA promotion week having a week-long stress attack, CALLA got nominated for their first win! But lost. Rip.
This is going to sound so shady, so disclaimer
!! KPROFILES FAKE GROUPS ARE FANTASY. THEY ARE ALL A CREATION OF PEOPLEβS IMAGINATIONS AND SO WE SHOULDNβT JUDGE ANYONE FOR THEIR WAY OF CREATING AND MANAGING GROUPS. MY CHOICES FOR CALLA SHOULD NOT BE SEEN AS BETTER OR WORSE THAN THE OTHER GROUPS !!
A lot of people create their groups with the intention theyβre big from debut. And like, can I blame them? Absolutely not. If youβre gonna have complete control over whether your group is successful, why would you not want them to be successful? But for me? I sort of like that underdog story. Of course, all these groups have different stories, but groups like Gfriend, Mamamoo, BTS, LOONA and fromis_9, none of them started with immediate fame, whether it be international, national or both. And all these groups ended up getting there eventually and are now loved by both Korean and International fans. I want this for CALLA, so spoiler alert they are going to grow soon.
For now? CALLA is in their semi nugu phase. I wouldnβt say theyβre nugu, but maybe not popular. Perhaps a bit like Billlie. I suppose you could consider Hyunjoo promoting with COS as a bit of an exposure moment for them. And so, CALLA got nominated for their first win. But lost. Because their success arc is only just beginningβ¦
Line distribution
For Eung Eung, some may say that Eung Eung is very biased towards Yejoon. And sure, the distribution is very much in her favour. But, I simply think all her parts match her as both a main vocalist but as a vocalist in general. Yet, despite the unfair distribution in favour of Eung Eung, in my personal opinion, is Emmaβs song. She sings a few major parts and overall I think she suits the song really well.
AURA on the other hand is much more equal. As I mentioned before the song suits each member individually, and so each member got parts that truly suited them. I donβt have much else to say, other than to me, Sophia owns this song.
And thatβs the Pink.Aura summary. The next part will be released after the next comeback obviously. Just to end this update, I have a poll for you to complete! Prior to the Pink.Aura comeback, I left small hints for people to try and guess the comeback, but Iβm not sure whether I should continue this in the future.

CALLA Fans Report Seeing The Group Filming Something
Fans of MeHoneyβs Girl Group CALLA report seeing the girls filming in Incheon around the coastline.
Some fans initially speculated that the girls were filming a comeback, however upon further investigation fans began to believe this wasnβt the case.
Some fans pointed out the group only just finished promoting for Pink.Aura, and so having them prepare for a comeback immediately would be tiring and the girls need rest. They also pointed out that the filming seemed to be informal, and that camera and clothing used did not seem extravagant enough to be for an official music video.
Fans have been left scratching their heads instead, with very few conclusions being drawn. Some fans think maybe itβs for a reality series, whereas others thing it could simply be for a regular vlog.

Fans of MeHoneyβs Girl Group CALLA report seeing the girls filming in Incheon around the coastline.
Some fans initially speculated that the girls were filming a comeback, however upon further investigation fans began to believe this wasnβt the case.
Some fans pointed out the group only just finished promoting for Pink.Aura, and so having them prepare for a comeback immediately would be tiring and the girls need rest. They also pointed out that the filming seemed to be informal, and that camera and clothing used did not seem extravagant enough to be for an official music video.
Fans have been left scratching their heads instead, with very few conclusions being drawn. Some fans think maybe itβs for a reality series, whereas others thing it could simply be for a regular vlog.

MeHoney Entertainment Confirms CALLA Comeback Is On The Way
Fans of the girl group CALLA began to be suspicious of the group's members within recent weeks, following prolonged twitter silences and changes of hairstyles. Fans pointed out the time since the last official group comeback and concluded a comeback was long overdue and expressed their excitement of the potential upcoming release.
Today, MeHoney Entertainment confirms the 3rd CALLA release will be coming very soon. In a statement they wrote:
"Indeed the CALLA members are preparing to return to Lily later this November. This next CALLA album will maintain the CALLA sound while trying something a bit darker and mature. We hope CALLA can reveal their full potential to LILY through their upcoming comeback. LILY should keep their eyes peeled for announcement posters soon".

During Pink.Aura era, I leaked a sneak peak of a concept image to other group managers. It seemed that people enjoyed the search of guessing what the song would be. So, I decided to make a comeback spoiler poster for this comeback.
I will spoiler the image so people who do not want any hints can have the album remain a complete mystery. Those who want to participate in the pre-comeback guessing can unspoiler the image and have a go.
Within the image there are hints of:
1. The album name
2. All the tracks
3. The artists featured on the album (to help with the guessing)

What do I get for a correct guess?
PRIZES:
One Song Correct = One 'how would CALLA sing' of your choice OR a photocard of a random CALLA member
Album Title Correct = One 'how would CALLA sing' of your choice OR a photocard of a random CALLA member
X Songs Correct = X/2 'how would CALLA sing' of your choice (eg 4 songs = 2 hwCs, 3 songs = 1 hwCs) OR two photocards of random CALLA members
All Songs Correct = X/2 'how would CALLA sing' of your choice OR two CALLA photocards, one random and one member of your choice

How CALLA would sing = a colour coded lyric card to a song of your choosing, regardless if it's a future CALLA comeback song or not (though I won't tell you if it is a future comeback). It would be preferred if they were kpop songs but if you REALLY want a non kpop song it's your prize and I won't resist. I just have more familiarity with kpop
Random photocards will be decided by a wheel of names
