’ve met way more mean army’s who have sent me death threats and told me to kill myself

I've run into very similar armies, so now I just explain myself constantly to avoid getting attacked because I'm genuinely scared for my well being, suffering with depression and dealing with stuff like that is not how i'd like to go it's really not good for my mental health. Half the time I avoid posting my opinion altogether

Yeah. It got to the point where I had people sending me messages(this was on Instagram)saying they know where I live and if they see me they’re going to kill me and r**e me. All because I stated my opinion about BTS’ fandom. It’s scary, I was afraid to leave my house for a good month when that happened.

I'm really sorry that happened to you, nobody in the world deserves to be treated like that. I hope you're doing much better than that now

I’m not offended. I was just stating my opinion and I respect yours. I have no ill feelings towards BTS or the nice people in the fandom, my problem is with the mean spirited fans.

I've had that happen to me. Death threats and shit. But I actually am a lot more afraid of r**e than death because r**e has happened to me before.

I’ll be honest, I still look over my shoulder sometimes. I know no one will do anything cause these were people who didn’t even live in my state nor my country probably, but it’s just scary to think that I could have lost my life all over an opinion about a group

Yeah I agree, I really hope that one day you can be free of that anxiety you don't deserve that over an opinion.And in my opinion you seem like a really nice person so...

Recently I told two people who are kinda but not really my friends that I listen to Kpop and immediately they go “oh so are you into BTS?” And I replied “no” and they reply “but isn’t Kpop just BTS” and I know that they don’t listen to Kpop but it just made me so madddd. I wanted to tie them to a chair and just scream that Kpop /= BTS and just give them a long list of all the songs I like (none of which are from BTS)
I wanted to come here and rant about it but I didn’t wanna upset the armies but I see I’m not the only one who thinks people will think BTS are the only relevant Kpop group

[...] and I just wish people understood that there is indeed more to Kpop then BTS, and Army do give us a bad name sometimes (not all armies but some are pretty bad) meaning that most people can't even talk about Kpop because they're too scared to get attacked about and it's just not fair on other Kpop fans who enjoy other groups [...] And the fact I have to explain myself here to stop myself from getting attacked I also find quite ridiculous, why can't other people just understand that everyone has a different taste, everyone has a different view and they should not get attacked for that.

Oh dear this just says what's bothering me SO MUCH.
When I discovered Kpop for the first time I myself had bad prejudices (because of what I used to hear from the people around me).
After realizing that I really did like Kpop I didn't talk about it AT ALL. I knew how people around me thought of it (and sadly some still do), so I didn't want to be frowned upon for liking it.
Now, about 4 years after, I finally accpeted that there will always be people who won't understand that there is so much more to the world of Kpop, so I'll just do my thing!

Geez.. that’s rude of them to think that... by the sounds of it, they obviously don’t even know that there are many other kpop groups out there other than BTS. But geez they’ve gone way too far on that don’t you think?

I agree. I mean one of them is best friends with a girl who is obsessed with kpop too... so the fact she’d go to a kpop fan and say something like that was a bit... ouch. I mean like 5 seconds later I go “I like blackpink” and she replies “oh yeah she talks about blackpink all the time”.
I remember back in April when I started listening to Kpop I would only listen to Blackpink, but now I listen to (though not as many as some people) a fairly decent sized number of groups, and I just see these people who are hardcore stans of groups like BTS and honestly I’m glad I’m not someone who only stans one specific group and will fight for them with their life. I’ve seen comments, not only made by army, but by kpop stans in general which are just not ok. I wonder what goes through people’s head sometimes
