Disclaimer: this is my own personal opinion, I’m not trying to offend anyone or bash BTS, they’re not the problem, the problem is the fandom.

So my best friend and I have a TikTok and we make videos about K-Pop groups we love. Well she posted one today about “Top 5 kpop groups we stan.” And listed the groups we love:

well, as per usual, BTS stans started commenting saying things like:

“where’s BTS???”
“Why aren’t BTS on there??”
“BTS should be number 1”

and it really pissed my friend off, so she deleted all the BTS comments but not before saying:

“This is our own personal list. We don’t stan BTS and that’s okay. Not everyone has to like the same groups.”

And she’s right. She even said in the caption thing that if we had a top 20 kpop group, BTS would probably be on there because we do like their old music but we don’t stan.

This is where Army is the problem. They make other people hate their faves by being like this.

I used to stan BTS but never again. Do I still listen to them? Yeah, sometimes. Do I hate them? Not at all. I hate their fandom and I always will hate their fandom because y’all don’t know how to act.​

even got shamed for being an exo fan in an amino that i own -- which is
very weird to say the least. i know lots of sweet army's too! that isn't the
thing, but the people that expect that the world revolves around them is ..
no, that's not how it works. i'm not ashamed for saying that, but there
are crazy people out there who do weird things simply because you don't
like bts, especially as an exo-l like me. it's a scary world in kpop, really.

(don't worry, even because i don't stan bts, doesn't mean i don't love
all you army's out there. i love everyone unless you're mean to others <3)

Yeah, kpop is not just BTS. It’s okay for them not to be one of your favorite groups. We all just need to respect each other’s opinions.

Oh yes sis. I got a lot of hate when I stanned BTS and then when I stopped, I stanned EXO for a short period of time and still go hate for it.

I'm a fan of BTS, they're still one of my ult groups but I agree that not everything is about them. Some people out there believe that kpop is BTS or Blackpink due to their popularity. And that's just wrong. Very wrong.

I dropped the fandom the moment Army's were going around being disrespectful without other fandoms. Army's are the reason why kpop fandoms have a bad reputation. They should be respectful and without causing fanwars. They should look up to Carats and Monbebes, bc you never see them causing these issues or acting up.
BTS paved the way? Oh please. 1st and 2nd generation kpop paved the way for all these groups. They worked and promoted hard for years, so all these groups could be here today.

I agree, whenever I say I stan Kpop everyone is always like 'oh so you like BTS then' and it's so tired to hear that assumption over and over again, when in reality I don't even like BTS that much (Not meaning to offend anyone, just not my taste of music especially the more recent stuff) and I just wish people understood that there is indeed more to Kpop then BTS, and Army do give us a bad name sometimes (not all armies but some are pretty bad) meaning that most people can't even talk about Kpop because they're too scared to get attacked about and it's just not fair on other Kpop fans who enjoy other groups other than BTS because they've relatively not done anything wrong (of course they've also done things wrong, i'm not saying nobody from other fans have not done something wrong, do not take it the wrong way.) And the fact I have to explain myself here to stop myself from getting attacked I also find quite ridiculous, why can't other people just understand that everyone has a different taste, everyone has a different view and they should not get attacked for that.
