EPEX is an 8 member boy group that is set to debut in the near future.
They will be the little brother group of CIX, both being under C9 Entertainment.
They have released that their debut will be called "Bipolar Pt.1: Prelude of Anxiety" on June 8th.

This debut has become controversial because of the title and therefore concept of this debut.
Personally, this really angers me. As someone with both Bipolar Disorder and 2 different anxiety disorders, this is offense.
I know that this debut is going to romanticize mental health, and make it all aesthetic and cool.
They will most likely rely on stereotypes, leading the public to have false information on mental illness.
This is not okay in my eyes.
It would be a different story if the concept photos and teasers implied that they would stay true to what mental illness really is, but look at this:

This is just a picture of a random member. They are trying to look appealing and attractive. They are not displaying what mental illness really is.

I am really disgusted with this debut.
Mental health should never be a concept, especially in this case. They are showing nothing that implies that they will accurately portray these disorders. And they are doing it in a series so what disorders will the misrepresent next?!

I for one cannot wait to have my disorders completely misrepresented by a kpop debut. *sarcasm*

TW/ Bipolar Disorder and Anxiety are horrible things to deal with. My life at points was utterly destroyed by my disorders. It has made me do things I wish I never did. It has left me with scars I despise. To see it be romanticized like this by a kpop group is disgusting and insulting.

That is a bad concept to go with and they will get hate for it , mental health is very serious and people won't like it. I personally don't like the idea and Disturbed by it and I hope some fans don't try to ignore it just because they are K-pop idols or because they think it's something cool or whatever. This is a very serious topic, I personally don't know about the group, just hope they don't go too far with this concept. And this shouldn't be something to use as a concept for a kpop group honestly it is very serious

And then this, What is this!!!
1st EP Album 'Bipolar Pt. 1 Prelude of Anxiety

Seriously this is nothing be using like that UGH

hi someone w mental illness here! i've seen their mvs and stuff, and personally i really don't see them romanticizing stuff?? all i see is the group not really knowing how to portray concepts that deal with anxiety and similar mental illness. i really do hope they can do better because from what i've seen so far, they are trying!! they just aren't doing the "concept" correctly imo

I get why some people are skeptical, but I think it’s good they’re even bringing up mental health—it’s usually so ignored. I’ve used mentalhealthhotline.org before when I didn’t know who to talk to, and they were super kind and helpful. It’s not perfect, but more visibility on this stuff can actually give people the push to look for help when they need it.
