This is really the first time I have held my groups accountable for something that is personally hurting me.

TW: Death, war, antisemitism
Sowon of Gfriend recently uploaded and delete photos of her posing with a Nazi soldier statue.

She commented that the photos had been taken on some kind of set.
There has been no apology released by either Sowon, Source Music, or Big Hit.

This posting has brought up past references to nazisim by gfriend.
According to SinB, Sowon is saved as Kitler in her phone. It is a combination of Sowon's name (Kim Sojung) and Hitler.

We all know this is bad, unless your a white supremacist or some shit. Hitler and his Nazis are responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jewish people and countless others.
He promoted his ideals of the Aryan race and used this to attempt to take over the world. He was a huge contribute to the cause of WW2.

Now why is this particularly upsetting to me? I am Jewish. Not only that, but my family has history with the Holocaust. My grandfather was a doctor in the army during WW2. He was originally from Russia and spoke it along with German and English. One of the more traumatic yet heroic moments of his time at war was when he helped to liberate the Buchenwald concentration camp. There he talked to other Jewish people who were incarcerated because of their beliefs. He had to see the horrors that were there and hear stories of stuff horrible events.
My grandfather is a hero to me. And this post kinda shits all over his actions, and as a whole the struggling of my people.
We already still endure antisemitism in the 21st century. I do not need to see it in the place I feel safe, Kpop.

I love Gfriend so much, but if no apology is released I am not sure if I will be able to stan them anymore.

This is just disgusting. This is why idols need to be educated about this type of stuff. Hugging a soldier for aesthetics is just not it. Both Sowon and SinB need to apologize. All were asking is for an apology.

a lot of people are defending her, as if it was a mistake. fans need to know that it's World War 2, not German/US/everywhere else that was effected. they even named it kitler. they knew what they were doing. and unfortunately, these things happen so often in k-pop, it needs to stop being normalized. everyone's like, "she took the photos down" like that's gonna fix anything?? it doesn't take away the insensitivity and/or the millions of deaths caused by WW2.





i'm not trying to get into arguments and/or bash on the girls and their fans by saying any of this. this is my opinion and i am no way biased.

I am part German, and I think this is utterly disgusting. I don't like what happened with Germany in WW2 one bit, and the fact that they want to make a huge joke out of this is horrible. If they don't appologize then they are being extremely insensitive and that's just sad. Even if they do appologize, I think they should be cancelled because this crosses the line.

I just saw on Twitter that Sowon is going to university and to get in, she has to pass a bunch of tests and one is a test about the World History and I can guarantee that includes WW2 stuff, so, in my eyes, she knew what she was doing and understood it would cause an uproar and continued to post it anyway

No matter if she was your bias or not, you should never defend things like this. Sowon and SinB know very well about this, and defending them is basically saying that they don't know basic world history. there would be 0 chance of them not knowing of what happened in WW2, as WW2 impacted her own country as well as many other countries in Asia.
An appology would just be basic human decency. Not an appology to me, but an appology to the people who were offended by this. This has to be the most sickening thing i've seen an idol do, because not only did they do and say things that were offesnsive towards the people who were affected by WW2, but they knew exactly what they were doing and that's disgusting.
Another reason on why trainees/idols should be edcucated on world history and other cultures before debuting.

The thought of things like this actually happening completely destroys the legacy my grandfather set and the sufferings my people went through.
