"Haters had to wait 6 long years for a unproblematic and genuinely kind group to UNINTENTIONALLY MAKE A MISTAKE. Buddies will always and always support gfriend. They are humans who make mistakes. Not perfect beings."

This was a comment on a video about the entire scandal. I-
Unintentional mistake? I think making jokes about H•tler and posing with a N•zi wasnt some cute, ditzy mistake. Plus, wasnt Korea involved in the whole entire ww2? Even if it wasnt, they still would learn about ww2 in school. Everyone does, for gods sake. The problem isnt with them not being perfect beings, its being insensitive and making jokes about such a disgusting thing that ruined so many peoples lives and killed innocent people. This isnt the first time Gfriend make insensitive jokes. Stop defending them, especially Sowon.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I think the Kpop stans who are defending Sowon and SinB don't understand the true magnitude of Sowon's actions. If we allow trivialization of something so impactful, it'll be allowed to happen again. History wise, Japan colonized Korea and was the reason North Korea exists today, rather than having a unified Korea. Japan was on the side of the Axis powers with Germany & Italy. Korea wasn't on either side, but yes, the US both helped and destroyed Korea. According to most historians though, the US freed Korea from Japan's brutal colonization. (I will say though that the US also occupied Korea and indirectly caused the Korean war.) Japan oppressed the Korean people while they were there and forced them into believing in their religion.
I think WW2 from Korea's perspective were less about Germany and more about Japan, but I'm reading some articles written by Korean people regarding WW2 education, and in Asia, the genocide was not widely taught about, and N*zi culture is romanticized heavily. This doesn't make Sowon's actions right or justified, but I think that Germany and their actions also need to be taught more.

Agree. Sowon needs to truly apologize, just like SinB and the 2 other members that made jokes about the H•locaust

Honestly, the apology was so half assed. Until Sowon (my former Gfriend bias along with Eunha) apologizes, along with SinB and possibly Yuju (I believe she was the one who sung in an OST which had lyrics referring to the H*locaust), I definitely agree with them being cancelled. OT4 Gfriend until apologies are made.
I haven't been able to restan them
I just solo stan Eunha and listen to their music thinking that they are random voices

same for the first part, i don't listen to their music anymore because it hurts too much.
Yeah I'm trying to stop but I stanned them so hard.
Even tho they directly insulted my religion, my people, and my grandpa.

It says a lot about Sowon and SinB if they don't apologize. I mean there have been so many instances in which kpop idols have apologized for something and i didn't think it was even necessary. But in this situation it is extremely necessary. And if they are willing to apologize for something like missing a performance or an offensive outfit/hairstyle (these are just examples, i am not refering to a specific instance) but don't understand the gravity of glorifying Hitler and the Nazis and apologize for it, that is just loathsome. I mean why on God's good earth would someone want to combine their name with that of a man who slaughtered millions of innocent people in some of the most inhumane ways posssible???? @Lost_in_the_Dream I am so sorry that a group you stan would do something like this. I know how it feels to discover something so disturbing in a place you feel is safe, and I am sorry that you are feeling that now.

Thank you for acknowledging me. 💜
It has been really hard and confusing.
Part of me wants to accept the Source Music apology, but then I feel horrible looking back on my beliefs and my ancestors.
And the other part wants me to stay away, but I love their music and variety so much.
I wish that all the members involved would apologize sincerely and acknowledge the gravity of their words/actions.
Then maybe I might try to restan.
Right now I'm kinda in stan limbo. I'm doing the, separate the art from the artist kinda thing.

if you want to listen to their music while taking a break from the members themselves, you could always listen to covers of their songs. I know it's not the same, but maybe it will help.

they should, it should be learned everywhere as it's world war 2, but i don't know, never went to schooling in korea.
and i mean she clearly knew it was wrong cause she deleted the post and was like, "i don't want buddies to be mad at me" but hasn't apologized... it's disappointing. :< even if she didn't know, she should still apologize and make an attempt to educate herself.

i 100% agree.
mhm :c and you would think that, koreans would be taught about the holocaust. what they went through was not as extreme, but they were still raped, killed, and tortured by the japanese, same side as germany. they should know other's pain, because as a whole country they can relate to that history. but no we get this...
