Eehh... I feel like I'm starting to get there; I've been learning for about a year, sort of. I wouldn't be able to hold a proper conversation yet, but I can recognise odd words and phrases when people are speaking, and I'm starting to get the point where I can frequently at least get the gist of written text.

I'm finding that I can actually pick up quite a bit from music, especially when you have phrases that are repeated often.
