On the episode of AOMG’s new show “Signhere,”, released on September 6, B.A.P’s Jongup auditioned to join the competition that aims to find a new artist to sign with the agency, despite his group that have been disbanded.

Jongup previously appeared in the premiere of the episode, when the AOMG artist panel (Jay Park, Simon Dominic, Gray, Code Kunst, and Woo Won Jae) were surprised to see him coming on stage to apply for the show. His full audition and evaluation were shown in the latest episode.

After a discussion with the judges in which they expressed their surprise to find that B.A.P had disbanded, Jongup opened up in an interview about his recent situation along with his first audition.

“I first debuted in 2012 with the group B.A.P and we promoted for seven years. I think last year was the most difficult. I didn’t know what would happen with the company or with our group. That was the most confusing time. It was a period that made me think a lot. It’s been about half a year since it ended, and I think I’ve been resting for half a year. To be honest, I think right now I’m going through a lot of pressure mentally.”

He even described that it was difficult to be doing this alone and said he was envious of one of the crews that were performing together as a group.

“It’s because B.A.P existed that I’m here now. This is my first time doing this kind of genre as a solo artist, but I’m taking on the challenge so that I can improve.”

Jongup then performed his song “Doko” for the judges. Afterwards, Simon Dominic praised one of his lines in particular and told him he’d written the lyrics well for the song.

“Since you promoted with B.A.P for seven years, you of course have a lot of stage experience.” He also shared his praise for his performance and said, “I couldn’t find anything uncomfortable about it.” — Code Kunst

“It hasn’t been long since you’ve been promoting as a soloist and doing your own composing and songwriting, so I felt that there was a lot lacking to be honest. The hook’s tone and the verses’ tone were different. I felt like they didn’t match well and didn’t feel good. But when I heard the verses’ tone and a few parts, I thought, ‘That’s pretty good.’ Also, when you’re promoting with a group, the members can make up for what you lack, but if you’re performing alone then what you lack stands out. So when you’re on stage on your own, you have to put in more effort and work harder.” — Jay Park
Jongup thanked Jay Park for his comments.

Jay Park shared in an interview that he was aiming to look at idols like Jongup in the same way as he’d look at anyone else.
“I don’t have any prejudice. The reason is that I know how much the contestants feel really hopeful and energized about this stage, so I don’t think of it lightly. I’m really trying to help them with what I say. And I also experienced a lot of [prejudice as an artist who began as an idol]. So I’m trying not to have that.”

After the judges discussed his performance, Jongup was sent to the second round of the competition. Unfortunately, he did not make it past the second round.

I can't even begin to imagine how he must've felt during his elimination. Jongup is a quiet boy who keeps everything to himself and the mental burden he must be going through to get a new agency and start from the top is a huge challenge for him and we're now talking about a veteran talented idol who's become desperate because of this s***y company he dedicated his career into for all these years.

Same goes for rest of B.A.P members too but the rest (except from Himchan) are fortunately seem to be doing better.

Like the company has literally wasted their time of their poor management and promotion towards the artists especially when the group had only received a low amount of pay like thats so stupid!!
I agree! If TS was smart and actually knew how to manage, they would've been a big company too nowadays because B.A.P were super famous ever since their debut. There was once an 'EXO VS B.A.P' battle between fans because both groups were the same powerful.
Wasted talent, wasted time, wasted the careers of six incredible young men and their mental state too. Yongguk literally got heavily depressed because of all of this. And they're doing the same thing with Sonamoo and TRCNG too even though with B.A.P it was worse because they were forcing them a lot in their early days with slave contracts to the point where the boys' families had to interfere.

I know 😔 like can they just hire a new CEO or something in this case at least??.. (and replace the current CEO)
I know nothing about business or how any of that works nor do I speak Korean but I could do a better job of treating TRCNG and Sonamoo with respect and caring about them the way a ceo should

Noooo 😭😭 just whyyy is the company being like this..
I can’t believe with the amount of the pressure that the boys must’ve faced back in those days, that must’ve been a bit terrifying.. but do you know if all the members have left TS entertainment?

I thought fans were joking when they said the boys were passing out from exhaustion and being overworked and then I saw a performance of 1004 and people in the comments were saying how Daehyun passed out during rehearsals and went to the ER and then staff went to get him and made him perform. Then I saw the bandage on his hand from where an IV had been and I fucking cried

Sis yes, the boys' families literally reached out to the company to plead them to stop forcing the boys so much. It was madness. The guys were fighting for their basic human rights but instead of being by their side and supporting them most of their then supposed fans left and got tired of waiting for them 😔
