Helloo, I need some advice on a plot for my fanfic. It's with a webtoon character.
Basically, Y/N is gonna be dreaming about this boy. For the first chapter, I want it to be kind of introducing her and the guy she's dreaming about. It's gonna be something descriptive so it's not a boring into. It'll kind of describe him as she's in a dream and describe them stealing glances. Once their classes end, they'll end up walking the same way. They talk a bit but end up walking into the sunset in comfortable silence. Just then, she wakes up from her alarm and has to go to school in real life. Does that make sense? That's my idea for chapter 1. I'll post it here as well or I can link my Wattpad.

Okay so here is what I have so here you go
Tips for Chapter 1
  1. Sensory Details in the Dream: Since it's a dream, focus on feelings rather than just sights. Describe the temperature of the air, the smell of the surroundings, and the feeling of her heart racing when they steal glances.
  2. Describe Him Through Her Eyes: Instead of just saying "he was handsome," describe the way his hair moves, the intensity of his eyes, or the specific way he smiles at her.
  3. The Transition: Make the transition from the sunset to the alarm clock sudden to emphasize the disappointment of leaving that world.
  4. The "Real World" Reaction: When she wakes up, show her trying to hold onto the memory of the dream, perhaps noting that she can still smell the dream's environment or feel his presence for a few seconds before reality sets in.

Structure Breakdown
  • Scene 1: The Dreamscape. Descriptive introduction of the setting and the boy (e.g., in a library, walking through a cherry blossom path, a quiet rooftop).
  • Scene 2: The Interaction. The glances, the walk, the comfortable silence.
  • Scene 3: The Awakening. The alarm breaks the spell.
  • Scene 4: The Reality. Y/N prepares for school, still thinking about him.

Maybe you can make her dreams be called alucid dreaming. Where ever in that world is real for her and in reality she is not Doing so great at school. Also maybe make the dream very detailed

maybe make the two interact in some way, like y/n drops her pencil and the boy picks it up for her (cliche i know)
and then she looks in the corner of her eye and sees another guy staring at her, looking jealous (if you wanna do a love triangle thing) (it's also super cliche i know i know)
BUT PLOT TWIST the guy isn't actually staring at her, but at the guy who picked up her pencil for her. SO NOW THEY'RE COMPETING FOR THE SAME GUY lmao

heres something i posted a while ago which might be helpful for writing ff too:

some tips i have:
  • make a consistent character voice, remembering to write through their perspective, giving them a personality beyond just "shy, flustered highschool y/n"
  • vary your sentence structures (e.g. adding a very short sentence to create a tense atmosphere), using language techniques such as metaphors (e.g. "Your affection is like a warm blanket, wrapping me in comfort.")
  • create chemistry between the characters, giving them shared interests, for example, that they can bond over
  • give the protagonist (y/n) a goal that isn't to do with their lover, For example, you could say that y/n stayed behind after school to work on a project they wanted to get good grade for, and maybe the love interest stayed behind to help them (very cliche i know i know)
  • Show, don't tell: Instead of saying "I was scared," describe the physical sensations: "My heart hammered against my ribs, and the air felt too thick to breathe".
  • Limit words like "I", using a variety of ways to describe y/n.
creating a plot:

write down the following headings:
  • main character (who leads the story)
  • situation at the start
  • motivation (what your character wants)
  • what disturbs the situation at the start (conflict)
  • developments (what happens next)
  • climax (the peak of the story, usually where things start coming to an end)
  • resolution (how things resolve)
  • epilogue (what happens after the story ends, cute for seeing a domestic couple in the future!)
then, summarise these into one paragraph or less, before starting to flesh it out into a complete draft. usually having someone read over your finished story after you have edited it is good for getting a second opinion. i'm always available if you need someone to do that for you!

romance writing prompts:
  • a falls asleep in the car, b carries them inside
  • only one bed: a builds a pillow wall, but still wakes up in b's arms
  • it's raining and there's only one umbrella
  • a is cold and b offers them their jacket
  • the group is playing hide and seek and a and b end up stuck in a small space together
  • a gives b first aid

remember to consistently practice to improve your writing skills, and enjoy!
