Chapter 13
Dear Diary,

I have so many ideas for the debut album, but all of these ideas are so overwhelming. So I'll write them all down here to try and make some sense of them, and maybe I'll be able to figure out which ideas are the worst and which are the best if I write them down.

Idea #1: A storyline. I've kind of already been doing this with the concept of Baby V.O.X., as this album is about the life of trainees. But what if there's more to it than that? Maybe one of us could play a specific character that the storyline follows, and it shows her as she progresses from being a trainee to an idol to retiring from the industry? This could kind of work for the music video that we filmed for "Change"… Honestly, I like this idea. I'll have to keep brainstorming it, but it could be very fun.

Idea #2: For the physical album, what if there's more inside than just a CD? We have our DigiGen characters, so what if we did something with them? We could include some posters, a photobook, and maybe something with the characters? I was thinking it would also be fun if we included stickers. Stickers, photos, posters, and maybe a doll of each character? All attatched to a little notebook.

Idea #3: We hold a mini concert for the album. This concert includes a performance of each song from the album, plus a fansign and maybe some behind the scenes footage? Something like that. But I think that would be a fun way to meet fans and promote our songs. Maybe we could do it a few times at a few different locations around Korea! That would be really fun.

Honestly, I just want to perform in front of an audience. That is my favorite thing about being a performer, is the concerts. Interacting with fans and all of that stuff. I can't wait to hold a world tour, that would be so fun!

Ooh, what if we eventually get a stadium tour? That would be so cool!

I can't wait to debut!

Ayways, those are all my ideas for today. I'll write more as I get more ideas, which I'm bound to do. After all, I was born for the role of performer. This group will be successful because I'm in it. Definitely.

~Rosy

Zara closed the book she had been reading and set it down on the table, then let out a long sigh of boredom. It was a weekday, so the younger girls were currently in school. Helena and Heejin were at the PREP building, training. Zara should've been over there with Xinyi, but she found herself seated at the table of their dorm without any means to leave instead.

Xinyi had left before all of them to begin training, having started her day at four in the morning. Zara didn't understand how the older girl was always so energetic in the morning. It took several cups of coffee before Zara felt ready to not behead everyone for even looking at her.

Shifting another look at the book she had been reading, some boring American classic that she had found at a bookstore weeks ago, she decided that maybe it was time to stop being lazy. After all, if the managers caught her slacking she would be in plenty of trouble.

So she stood up from the table and began preparing for practice. She pulled on sweat pants and an oversized shirt that didn't like to stay on her shoulders. Her black hair got placed into a tight bun on top of her head, and she shoved her feet into white tennis shoes. Finally, she grabbed her purse and dance bag from their shelf by the door and stepped outside.

After leaving the apartment, Zara stood on the sidewalk for a moment, face tilted towards the sun as she relished the warm rays. It was starting to warm after a winter of harsh coldness, and she couldn't be happier as she felt the heat burn her skin. It took all her effort to peel herself away from her position and walk across the street to the PREP building.

Once inside, she made her way to the third floor, where the dance studios were. She had memorized Xinyi's tight schedule long ago and knew that this was around the time where she would be warming up to begin her dance practice, and Zara figured she would want some company.

Maybe. It was sometimes hard to tell with Xinyi.

It appeared Zara caught Xinyi on a good day, as she was met with an excited hug when she stepped inside the studio.

"Zara! I thought you had over slept again, what took you so long to get here?" Xinyi asked once she pulled away from the hug.

Zara threw her bag on the floor and sat down with a huff. "I was being lazy. Figured that I should get the most of the free day the managers gave us."

Xinyi rolled her eyes at Zara, sitting down across from her on the hard wood floor. They began their individual warm-ups as Xinyi scolded Zara.

"This isn't a free day, Zara. Most of the members are at school, so our schedules are less strict than normal, yes. But that doesn't mean you get to slack!"

"I'm not slacking!" Zara whined. "I'm here, aren't I?"

That was met by another eye roll by Xinyi, but she didn't press the issue anymore. Once they were warmed up, they stood by the speakers while Xinyi figured out which song to work on. The two had been writing songs together since they had debuted in IT GIRLZ together, and they had been silently hoping that they would get to create the next NextGen album together.

"We should work on one of our songs," Zara said, leaning against the wall across from Xinyi, who nodded.

"Which one?"

Zara looked over her shoulder, to where Xinyi had opened up to their playlist on the iPod. She clicked her favorite one, and the two moved onto the dance floor to work on the choreography together.

Scene #1:

Script:
[The video begins with a blank screen. Slowly, the words "Side A" are typed in. Then the letters are slowly erased to be replaced with a question, that is typed just as slowly as the first one: "How do you wish to appear onstage?" As the last word appears, the words disappear and the screen fades to show five girls posing on a stage. The camera zooms in on Helena first. The scene changes to show Helena sitting in a white room on a comfortable chair. She has one leg crossed over the other, in a relaxed posture.]
Helena: When I'm onstage, I wish to appear confident. I want everyone to know that they're in my domain. When I'm onstage, everyone is going to have a good time. That is my promise to you all.
[The five girls are now backstage, doing an outfit change. Rosy and Miso are sitting in front of two mirrors and getting their hair done by two staff members. Heejin is helping Helena tie a ribbon onto her shirt, and Jieun is taking a sip of water. She grins at the camera, then covers it with a hand. When the darkness fades, Jieun is now in the interview room.]
Jieun: Whenever I'm onstage, I always worry that I'm not performing to my fullest extent. That I will leave and people will think I don't deserve to be in the group. I think I just wish to appear talented, and show off all that I have.
[The girls are on the set of their music video, dancing in front of a green screen. When they're done, Heejin goes up to the camera and gives it a heart. She leads it to the interview room, which is a bit to the left of the green screen. She sits down on the chair and crosses one leg over the other.]
Heejin: Everyone as a different way that they perceive those around them. I've known people who see me as cold and mysterious, but I also know people who see me as too outgoing and very happy. I hope my public image resides somewhere between those two ideas.
[The girls are now sitting on the floor of a practice room, laughing as they play a game with a water bottle. They spin it around, then laugh as it flies away from them. Miso stands up to pursue the water bottle. As she turns around, the camera zooms in on her, and the scene changes to show Miso inside the interview room.]
Miso:
I want to appear as someone people can trust. Like, if you were to tell me your secrets, I wouldn't tell anyone. I want people to know that they can tell me all of their secrets, and their secrets will stay safe with me. [She laughs.] But don't actually tell me your secrets.
[A collage of photos of the girls appear on the screen. It starts slowly, showing a picture of the girls on the beach, in a practice room, eating lunch together, doing each other's hair. Then it begins flipping through the photos too quickly for anyone to see, finally ending on a photo of Rosy inside the interview room.]
Rosy:
Whenever someone things of K-Pop, they imagine the cutest person possible standing onstage. Someone who is full of charisma and is able to hypnotize the audience into loving them. That's who we're trained to be. We don't have faults; we don't have any issues. We are the public's perfect idols. That's all who we're meant to be...
[The rest of the video fades out. As Rosy continues talking, words are typed on top of her video that has gone black and white. The words read: "Baby V.O.X. Side A: Who we're meant to be: The cute girls that run the stage." Then the video fades out.]
