Glass Pearls has some lore that I'll talk about in coming days...
what if stopped being a trainee for unknown reasons? maybe there was conflict between her and her fatherNo going back now
What happened to Lee KaYeon?
Note: if you go back to the CALLA thread to check everything I'm saying here, you will see no mention of any of this. This is because I decided all of this recently!
In 2021, MeHoney Entertainment held a trainee showcase in order to hype up the general public about their upcoming artists. During the showcase, seven male trainees and nine female trainees performed, and out of the total sixteen, ten of them have now debuted, five of the male trainees becoming members of SPIRE and three of the female trainees becoming members of CALLA.
After the MeHoney Entertainment showcase, speculation arose online due to the fact one of the female trainees, Kayeon, who performed in a group with current CALLA member Hyunjoo, seemed to resemble the CEO of MeHoney Entertainment, Lee Jinyoung, quite strongly. After some digging, netizens were able to first confirm Kayeon's surname was in fact Lee, and then that she was actually the daughter of the CEO of MeHoney Entertainment.
Debate spread online, due to the fact Lee Kayeon was bound to benefit from nepotism due to her father, and she would be guarenteed to debut in the next girl group under the company. However, a year later, when CALLA was announced to the public to have Hyunjoo, Daiyu (Sophia) and Yejoon from the showcase, as well as two trainees who had not been seen before, yet no Kayeon, the public was shocked. Why would the CEO not debut his own daughter? The gossip grew more upon learning from the CALLA members that the original team consisted of three other female trainees who failed to debut. Could one of them be Kayeon? But why would she be cut from the lineup?
Kayeon was born in 2003, making her 21 Korean age and 19 internationally. If she waited for MeHoney Entertainment to debut another group which could take at minimum four years, she would already be 25 in Korean age, and though MeHoney Entertainment is known for debuting older idols, many agree this age seems to push it a little. Yet the CEO has not mentioned anything about what would be happening to his daughter, and whether she was even still a trainee under his company.
The current popular theory is that Kayeon will debut solo sometime soon, and perhaps her father felt she ran the risk of being overshadowed in a group.
But what do you think? Will we get to see Lee Kayeon any time soon?
