We were living with my aunt. Her daughters (my cousins) put something on their TV. It was four girls, two sang two rapped. It was very strange. I asked "What actual F*** is this? And what am i on?" The eldest took me to her room and sat me down. We sat there watching nothing but MV's and introductions of different groups for hours. Non-stop different names were thrown at me. BLACKPINK, BTS, Big Bang, UNIQ, Infinite, Wanna one, Winner, BTOB, B1A4, Twice, Astro, Golden Child, Monsta X, NCT(the explanation of this one damn near gave me a migraine) and so much more. This was 2 days before DNA- BTS. My very first K-pop song was ( yeah i realize Gangnam Style is technically Kpop but we don't count that here) Save Me.
WOW! I hated Kpop at first. Especially, if you are an army look away, BTS. I hated DNA but then I grew to love it. My first Kpop MV was TT TWICE, I actually never heard Gangnam Style until after TT. I heard of the song name but never listened to it.
I stumbled upon a video called 'Youtubers React To Kpop' if I remember well so it was through a reaction video that I searched more about BTS first and then about other groups aswell. I've had heard kpop songs before but it wasn't until that time I got for good into it.
Well, my brother’s girlfriend showed me SHINee on Weekly Idol in the summer of 2016. I thought it was weird and didn’t really care for it, but I watched it cause she liked it.
It wasn’t until almost 2 years later in May 2018, when I finally gave kpop another listen, after seeing people comment on this asmr girl’s video that she looks like Lisa from BP. So I typed in “Lisa from BP” and that’s how I found Blackpink and BTS right after
Well, a couple of years ago I was on one of my acquaintances facebook page, and I stumbled across with the majority of these groups and artists in her ‘likes’ section that I wasn’t even familiar of, and they seemed like ‘kpop’ to me, so I thought that I should give one of the groups from her ‘likes’ section a listen + watching their music video to see what a kpop music video looks like, and the first group that I’ve decided to give it a first listen to was Apink. And that was was when I’ve started listening to their song NoNoNo. Then I started watching their variety shows and that’s what got me into them for a while, and they became my ult group back then. I also started listening to other groups during the following year after that.
Then in 2016, I thought that I should watch some BTS videos on youtube since in 2015 I’ve came across with these 2 girls in my school doing a dance performance, and they were playing and dancing to songs by BTS and EXO. They did this a couple of times, mostly with the BTS songs. But I wasn’t into BTS or EXO at that time (in 2015). So by the time I started watching some BTS videos in 2016, I instantly fell in love with the group!! And I’m still an ARMY up until now, so I’ve been a fan of them for 3-4 years now.
In 2009, my uncle showed my cousin and me Wonder Girls' MV Nobody, and it instantly became a bop for me.
In 2012, I played a video game called Dance Central 3 and one of the songs I danced to was 2NE1's I Am The Best, and it is the best song in the game. (Funnily, my favorite song in Dance Central 2 is I Wish For You by EXILE, a JPOP song, which I never knew until this year)
Anyway, I didn't actually make an investment in KPOP until this year when I decided to listen to 2NE1's discography.

Ahh yeah i was a part of those people who disliked it because of how annoying I found armys to be. And how my friends at the time didn’t like it. I got into it through my friend who sent me RM’s Moonchild, and I started watching other mvs bc I loved it. Then my friend just recommended more stuff and here I am today
