Recently, allkpop posted an article that stated YG Entertainment went through a 2.1 billion won deficit (1.76 million USD) in their first and second quarters. YGE used to be the most profitable entertainment company out of the Big 3, but they fell this hard after their multiple scandals and controversies.
Do you think they will be able to bring themselves back up after everything that has been going on?

I mean they put themselves into this hole. Do I feel bad? Sure but they had this coming honestly.
most definitely, i mean what were they expecting? it would be highly doubtful if they really thought all the reasons for the scandals would've been kept a secret forever -_-

i don't care about the company itself, i just feel really bad for their artists (especially the treasure boys 😭😭)
fr !! since the stocks went down so much, it makes me wonder how much includes profits for ikon or blackpink or money towards the treasure 13 debut :( it really isn't their fault, it's all yge

i've also heard rumours about some trainees leaving the company 😟 at this point, it feels like a miracle is needed for t13 to debut... i used to feel so bad for hun, gon and woong, thinking they wouldn't get to debut, but it turns out that yg completely disregarding them was actually a good thing bc otherwise they'd still be rotting in his basement : ))))

the trainees that left YGE actually left the company before the scandals happened so don't be swayed by headlines that say an ex-yg trainee has found a new company due to the scandals
but im glad those three have found themselves with a good group and have debuted bc if not, we would've never gotten content from them ever 😣

well, yge did put out a statement saying that everything is "going fine", but i don't really believe that 100%... either way, that company is probably the worst place to be rn and i'm so upset with the whole situation :/ it was bad enough when they didn't debut the mixnine group, but now everything is just crashing down burning lol

true... i literally cried when i saw seunghun's mom post after he got eliminated in ygtb, i'm so happy he got to debut so soon (and with gon too ; w; ); woong is also in really good hands 💕 i'm still kinda bitter that yg didn't just debut silver boys without the whole survival show, but what's done is done 😕

same here, i'll forever be salty about what couldve happened with silver boys but at least they got a second chance :)
but i was hurt with both the cancelled mixnine final lineup and the ex-ygtb trainees eliminations bc yg seems to forget that their goal is to promote the next top idol group smh
if they had debuted silver boys or even mixnine, their profits wouldve gone up
but sadly whygee himself only focuses on visuals :(

It's not a huge lost for such a scandal. Black Pink saved their ass, and they are using their joker Lee Hi, Jeon Somi and AKMU. But I don't know the value of Big Bang now, they were their big money earners. And iKon reputation was damaged too.
What I've read elsewhere is that one of their important investitor (LVMH subsidiary If I remember) has an option to sell their share, which's open this year, and if they lose money YG had to pay the diff. I think it's about 50 million $. So their lost might be heavier.

okay but O U C H. they are definitely going to have a hard time coming back from it all.. i mean, yg could try to showcase the artists they forgot about (as you said Lee Hi, AKMU etc.) for once or they could debut T13 to receive at least some debut promotion profit, but either it works out and they recuperate or they fail bc the scandals only gave their groups/artists a bad name and they wasted whatever money they had left on nothing 🤔

YG Entertainment is reportedly set to return 67 billion won to LVMH (Louis Vuitton SE) The deadline to return the original 61.05b won investment + 2% interest for 5 years is October 16

Basically, they have to refund LVMH.

Following a 6 month investigation, the National Tax Service will reportedly hit Yang Hyun Suk and YG Entertainment with a 6 billion won tax bill

We are far from the 2 billion won lost of the first semester ^^

feel bad for the people who have to pay it off though, especially the ones who have nothing to do with it.
and all the workers that will get no payment (probably), or the artists getting less money. that just sucks.

not only that but since AKMU is having a comeback, if they want to promote it, they might be given as much options/opportunities
that goes for treasure 13 debut too..
