Sooo. Yesterday scrolling on Tiktok I discovered a new Spotify feature called crossfade. What it does is takes the beginning and ending of a song and merge them together for a “clean transition”. I recommend at least checking out the feature before commenting.

I have seen some really sick transitions. Here is the that made me really want to do it:
(There was another one of Forever 1 -> Sneakers which was also cool but I can’t find it).

So I did try the feature. So far the results have been really underwhelming. You could argue there isn’t any coheasion in the aesthetics of my songs and so of course they won’t blend together, but like Forever 1 and Sneakers are so different so why did they sound good together??? The transitions are just messy a lot of the time. I don’t think it’s worth it for the off chance you might get a cool blend. Also it lost points because the first “I like it like a milkshake” in Red Velvet’s Milkshake got cut off and like wtf. It’s not like it’s a unique line it’s just the introduction to the song it can’t not be there.

If you do like the feature, what number do you have the fade on? Maybe my number isn’t the best option?

Crossfade is not a new feature lol I've always had crossfade and it really sucks because it sometimes cuts the song off so I turned it off

I haven’t seen it before, and I’ve been in the playback setting a couple times fairly recently. I suppose maybe it got added and I didn’t realise. Or maybe it only just became available to me

i think its good but i hate when I make a new playlist and it fades into awkward silence (not the song) It takes like 1 minute for it to fully load.

I have seen some really sick transitions. Here is the that made me really want to do it:
TikTok - Make Your Day (There was another one of Forever 1 -> Sneakers which was also cool but I can’t find it).

Also it lost points because the first “I like it like a milkshake” in Red Velvet’s Milkshake got cut off and like mixcloud promotion. It’s not like it’s a unique line it’s just the introduction to the song it can’t not be there.
I’ve tried crossfade too and honestly had the same experience — it looks amazing in some TikTok examples, but in real playlists it’s really hit or miss. The feature doesn’t actually “understand” song structure or key, so unless two tracks happen to line up well in tempo and energy, the transitions can sound messy or awkward. It’s especially annoying when intros get cut off, because that’s part of what makes a song feel right. Cool idea in theory, but right now it feels more like a gimmick than something reliable for everyday listening.

I feel like it is either a good transition or it is a bad one. I have seen a lot on TikTok and they seem really good, but you really have to see two songs that have the same energy and vibe. Also, you have to set it to the right seconds to get a good one. When you actually really good and I really enjoy listening to it.
