Welcome to the 2022 Miel Music Awards!
I didn’t host these on the forums in 2021, and I’ve also changed a little about the formatting since then too… but I hope people enjoy this award show (aka, compilation of my opinions).

Debut Song of the Year : O.O - NMIXX
Ah… one of the most hated songs of this year, yet it’s the winner of this category. 2022 had some great debuts, and was one of the hardest categories for me to choose nominees and winners for. However, O.O is the only debut song I’ve consistently loved since it was released till now. I’ve loved it since 1st listen, and I still do. So yes, sorry to the rest of Kpop but this is my debut SOTY
Rookie Song of the Year : Love Dive - IVE
If you didn’t see this coming I will question how well you know me. To be fair, once again, there were so many great choices for this category. Unfortunately for all the other choices, I didn’t listen to them consistently for months on end, and dance to them multiple times a day impulsively. Love Dive really was my only winner
Junior Song of the Year : Ven Para - Weeekly
Once again, if you didn’t see this coming, I will assume you weren’t active on the forums when it dropped. Because I literally dubbed myself as Ven Para Girl. I was obsessed with it from the moment it was released, there’s just something about it that’s so addicting. Kpop is wrong for hating it!! She is amazing
Senior Song of the Year : Last Sequence - WJSN
I think this one was obvious, but maybe it wasn’t. Yknow when you love a song from the first listen? I LOVED THIS SONG BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED. I knew she was going to be the shit and I was correct. I always list this song as my favourite song all together. Idk how true that actually is because I’ve actually been having a crisis since June. But she’s a candidate
Grand Prize : Love Dive - IVE
So ik I said Last Sequence is my favourite song... Yeah well… Love Dive is still my SOTY. I love Last Sequence don’t get me wrong, but Love Dive loves ME. It claimed me. It stole my soul. I didn’t choose Love Dive to win SOTY, it chose itself. If I could summon 2022 up with 1 song, it would have to be Love Dive

Debut Bside of the Year : Blue Flame - Le Sserafim
Ironically, I was listening to Blue Flame as I wrote this. Similarly to Love Dive, it’s a song I’ve just been obsessed with since release. It’s both elegant but funky at the same time, making an absolute bop. I feel this may be one of my more popular opinions, as I feel like there are a lot of Fearnots on the forums. Blue Flame is their best song and it belongs as a winner
Rookie Bside of the Year : La Luna - Ichillin’
Another difficult category, but with an obvious winner. Seriously one of my most unexpected favourite songs. I wasn’t even going to bother listening to it at first. But I heard a snippet, fell in love and here we are. This song deserved to be a title track, and is literally heavenly. It sounds like the night sky on a summer evening, yknow? Literal perfection
Junior Bside of the Year : Escape Room - fromis_9
Aha… what can I say about this category. This was an easy W from fromis_9. Don’t get me wrong, there were some good candidates in this category. But except maybe Snowy, did any of them deserve to be a winner? No. But thankfully we had Escape Room to save us all. I absolutely adore this song omg. It gives me chills, it’s just so pretty
Senior Bside of the Year : Love Is Gone - Brave Girls
Another very tough decision. It was neck and neck with another nominee (that I will announce later). But I overall decided on Love Is Gone as I feel like presently I like it just that bit more. Underrated song if you ask me, I love the vocals and how groovy it is
Grand Prize : La Luna - Ichillin’
Am I going to regret putting La Luna over Escape Room? Maybe one day. But this is my decision for December 2022. I really just fell in love with this song and it’s another contender for favourite song. It’s just so beautiful and I think everyone should listen to it so that their life changes

Debut Album of the Year : [REC.] - YUJU
This wasn’t actually my original winner. But I changed to this album simply because she is GORGEOUS. I love how cohesive it is, and I just love Yuju’s vocals in all the songs. I’ve been obsessed with both The Killa and Cold Winter since their release, and Play and Blue Nostalgia are beautiful too. Overall, a great album and my overall favourite debut album
Rookie Album of the Year : Op.22 Y-Waltz : In Major - Jo Yuri
A long title, but an INCREDIBLE album. This album made me stan her, and made her top my stan list. I know intros aren’t included as tracks in the Miel Music Awards but Round and Around is literally the best intro I’ve ever heard and it deserved to be a full length song. Then you have Love Shhh! an incredible summer bop, followed by 3 ANGELIC songs. Rolla Skates is my personal favourite, as it feels like a spring day, but obviously Opening and This Time are gorgeous too with Yuri’s STUNNING vocals. If you can’t tell, I like ballads
Junior Album of the Year : Cheshire - ITZY
You know the nominees are bad when the winner came out a month ago… /hj. Cheshire is quite the mix of songs, but I like her. Fun for everyone, yknow? One of my favourite ITZY albums, and has 2 of my favourite ITZY songs. Juniors kinda just flopped this year though, so it was also kinda an easy win…
Senior Album of the Year : Thank You - Brave Girls
I know this album wasn’t very popular, but I liked it! I really love how cohesive it is, and each song is so funky, but with its own vibe. I don’t really have much else to say except good job Brave Girls
Grand Prize : Op.22 Y-Waltz : In Major - Jo Yuri
We had some good nominees, but this is just one of my favourite kpop albums EVER. It’s just so good. I love it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but that’s fine it just means more for me

Debut Music Video of the Year : Pop! - Nayeon
An easy winner for me. Again, there’s been some good debut mvs. But Pop is just on another level. Maybe it’s because I watched a video editor analyse it, but I just have so much appreciation for how detailed this music video is. I also love the aesthetics, the diversity in sets and outfits. JYP went all out on this music video
Rookie Music Video of the Year : Antifragile - Le Sserafim
When I scored the music videos to figure out nominees and winners, this mv literally drew with another one. But ultimately I chose Antifragile because I just really like the concept and storyline. Not many mvs have an actual story, and sure this one wasn’t like a story-story. But it was themed around the end of the world and progressed as the mv went on. Even when I wasn’t keen on the song, I loved the mv. That’s why it won… even if I’m a little sad the other didn’t
Junior Music Video of the Year : Nxde - (G)I-DLE
Nxde was the only choice for this category. Sure, there were some great junior mvs, some of the best mvs all together this year. But Nxde has everything. The aesthetic, the story, the sets, the costumes. Everything about it was spot on. It’s also the most meaningful music video this year. I’m not a big fan of (G)I-DLE but I really appreciate the message this mv shared, and I feel like it enhanced the song so much
Senior Music Video of the Year : Feel My Rhythm - Red Velvet
I feel this choice is a popular one. It was close, but the aesthetics of Feel My Rhythm are just unbeaten. I also really liked the fairytale-play sort of concept going on. It really matched the song which I feel enhanced its beauty so much
Grand Prize : Nxde - (G)I-DLE
Again, the only choice. It was my highest scoring mv overall, but even if it wasn’t, it still would’ve won. It’s just one of the best music videos in kpop in a long time

Another one where if you didn’t see it coming I’m convinced you’ve just stumbled onto the Miel Music Awards without actually knowing anything about me. Hi I’m Miel, and this year IVE blew me away. I do not understand how a rookie can be that amazing?! I fell in love with every release, they have some great bsides, it was an easy choice for me. Fun fact, since IVE technically debuted in 2021, they’re already graduating from the rookie category next year. How weird is that?
Junior Artist of the Year : Rocket Punch
Hear me out. We had a variety of juniors that dominated different areas. But Rocket Punch? They won nothing, yet they killed everything. Chiquita and Flash? BOPS. Some amazing bsides, especially Red Balloon. Some good albums, Flash being my favourite. Sure maybe their mvs could’ve been a bit better but like they weren’t that bad! They were the only juniors this year who had consistent releases I liked. That’s why Rocket Punch is my junior of the year
Senior Artist of the Year : WJSN
I feel this choice was expected. Last year, ITZY were my artist of the year because they became my ult group. So I feel it’s only fair WJSN are my senior of the year because they made me question my loyalty (alas, they didn’t succeed, but they almost did). I really liked their release, and even though it wasn’t considered for the show, they did win Queendom. So overall, it’s been a successful year for them. Now they’re not allowed to disband <3

WJSN can never catch a break can they? Always being beaten… Just, same as the Love Dive story. IVE owned this year for me, and I will always remember 2022 as IVE’s year.
