disclaimer! this is all my opinion!
this was...disappointing. i finally watched, and i was not impressed. is theblacklabel doing somi dirty, or is this on her? idk, but i am not for it. i love somi, but this is simply not it.
the dancers were done dirty - why are they wearing those masks? they don't even look good, and the outfits are um... yeah. also, why is the boy consistently referred to as furry or furry friend? i get that he had the dog costume, but i just don't like the feel of it. there are individuals in this world that identify as furries, so i'm curious what they think abt this? i just doesn't sit right with me. and yeah, i know that the directors and producers of xoxo are also involved with blackpink, thus the similarities between the 2 artists' mvs. but i feel like it was too much? this is somi, not blackpink; let her do her own thing.
as for the actual song, the rap doesn't fit very well, and it was kinda unnecessary. i'm not a fan of the chorus, either. i like the first half, but the second part (don't call me a b!tch, your new girl - she's the b!tch)? not it for me. and as much as i love blackpink, jennie, and solo, i don't like the solo reference; including it in the song and dance was not necessary. again, i understand that somi and blackpink both work with teddy, so there will be similarities, but i feel like it's too much? there are times when a reference to another song/artist (esp within the same company) would be okay, but this didn't feel like admiration. it felt like 'look, somi is close to blackpink, see how similar? come and listen.' i feel like i can't stress this enough: blackpink and somi are different; let somi do her own thing!
