"The cultures around the world surrounding meat are just appalling. You ever had Brazilian barbecue before? It's literally you at a table, having just gone to the salad bar they so thoughtfully put in there, then flipping a pad from red side to green and getting a parade of every cut of meat coming your way, like you just died in battle and went to Valhalla or something. Go to a Korean barbecue restaurant, and it's so nice, eh, the gimmick of cooking your own food, even though you already do it at home and can get similar results there, but look at us indulging our inner cavemen/women/insert-your-pronoun-here. With Mongolian (technically, Taiwanese) barbecue, it's you getting a bunch of meat and being amazed as the chef throws it all onto a special rondel grill and cooks it all for you.

We turn meat into a spectacle every way we know how. Sentient creatures who get slaughtered in droves in their own personal Auschwitz just to have their raw red corpses paraded around in gimmicky restaurants for us to scarf down like it's the end of the world. Imagine if we did that to other human beings? Or, I dunno, the animals we hypocritically deem as being too worthy of death, such as cats and dogs, even though ducks, cows, deer, lambs, etc. are easily JUST as cute, but whatever, I guess.

People think it's all right because they're only partway sentient. Put them in a shitty situation, they'll just adapt to it 'cos they lack the capacity to see a better way. But that's just admitting we knowingly take advantage of those who won't put a fight just so we can dribble grease down our lips and loose another notch from our belts.
