so, i woke up today w a stomach bug. i called out of work 4 hrs early (2-3 hrs early is the minimum, btw) and let them know i was vomiting and couldn't make it (i also have a fever). the manager then proceeds to tell me that if i don't have a dr note, i'll get a write up. that's fucking ridiculous!
not everybody can afford to just go to the dr; not everyone has good enough insurance to do so (#american_things
). and how is she to know i'm not one of those ppl? (spoiler: i am, plus the fact that i'm minor. i'm entirely dependent on my parents to take me to the doctor). and even if i
did go to the doctor, what the hell is he gonna do? it's a stomach bug. he may give me anti-vomiting medicine, but that's it. i'm just gonna get the most basic advice: rest, drink water, take fever meds as needed.
i'm not gonna go to work and get penalized for smth i had absolutely no control over. i've not worked at this place long, but still. i haven't called out before and i've worked for this company before, you could easily look at my employee file and see that i've never called out for no reason. i do my job wo complaining and i'm polite and efficient. i refuse to sign the write up. idc if they fire me. i've checked the employee handbook, and i didn't see a single thing that said i have to have a dr note.
