attack on titan was a manga written by hajime isayama, there are currently 34 volumes of AOT (attack on titan) and Isayama is working on a 35th one about levi after the rumbling. There has also been a fair share of spin offs, like junior high, before the fall, and no regrets. This manga series was adapted as an anime under wit studios and then moved to mappa for the 4th and final season of the show.
**SPOILERS AHEAD**




The series is set in a world where the last of humanity is trapped behind three large walls titled wall maria, wall rose and wall sheena, 5 years before Eren and his friends join the corps, wall maria gets breached by 2 abnormal titans which they titled the 'Colossal titan' and 'the armored titan', killing his mother, later he joins the training corps and getting #5 in the top 10 ranking, Eren joins the scouting corps (they go outside the walls to try and regain wall maria) where he meets jean, Reiner, bertholdt, Annie, Marco, christa/historia, ymir, Connie and sasha as fellow members of the 104th training corps. there he meets commander Erwin, section leader hange, and captain Levi. erens goal is to avenge all the titans and destroy the titan race, before he realizes he's able to shift into a titan as well.. along the plot of the story trusted characters turn on us and, it ends up in genocide..

before you move on I'd like to advise there are spoilers ahead




here are the 9 different titans and their hosts!!
the very first titan shifter we were told about was Eren who shifts into the attack titan, the powers of the attack titan is it has memories from the previous shifters who had this titan.

the 2nd one we learned was Annie, who shifted into the 'female titan' the powers of the female titan is that they can easily mimic the powers of other titans
(help I was searching it up and it said why is female titan hot)
The 3rd titan shifter we learned about was Reiner, who holds the Armored titan (my personal favorite) the Armored titans powers are that the armor on his body is super strong!
the 4th titan is colossal titan who was both held by Bertholdt and Armin, the powers of it are creating very powerful explosions as we learned when bertholdt and Armin first transformed
the 5th titan is the jaw titan who was held by Marcel galliard, then ymir, and then porco, the powers of it are that the jaw of the titan is very powerful and can basically snap you in half
the 6th titan holder is pieck who holds the cart titan, the cart titan is capable of holding very powerful things on its back and doesn't really have much...
the 7th titan is the beast titan which Eren and Zeke both have, Eren stole it from Zeke basically, but the powers are thrpwing things
the 8th titan is the war hammer titan that Eren stole from Lara tybur, it can create weapons with its skin..
the last titan is the founding titan which Eren got from Zeke its really confusing : (
