My Idol Age Predicament

This is something I've been thinking about lately, and I was wondering if others did as well.
Basically, I feel like idols who are born the same year as me are a lot younger than I actually am.
I'm a 2000 liner, and when I see other idols born that year, they seem like babies to me.
For example Haechan, Yiren, Felix, Yangyang, Chaewon, Jongho, and Soobin are all born the same year as me, but they seem so much younger.
The same thing happens with idols who are born the same year as my brother (2002). They seem so much younger than him, even though I view him very much so as an adult. Yet in Korea, he would still be a kid.
Even idols that are drastically older than me seem younger.

I think it's also a bit weird that with Korea's age system, some idols who are underage would technically be in college in America.
Idols born in 2002 would be Freshman
Idols born in 2001 would be Sophomores
Idols born in 2000 would be Juniors
Idols born in 1999 would be Seniors.
I just get this picture in my head of Jisung or Huening Kai being in one of my classes, but it just seems so odd because they are babies to me.

Is this just because of Korean culture and how much emphasis they put on age?
Or is it because I've been desensitized to the way some stans baby their idols.

I know a lot of you are too young to have any idols born the same year as you, but doe anyone else think about this?

The way the birthdays and ages are set up in Korea confuses me so much. It's much easier for me to view idols ages as how they would be internationally, even if they may be younger or older in Korea.
