In the UK, I think it's more popular than my experience would suggest, but then I imagine most of our K-pop fans are likely in their teens and early 20s, which is a demographic I have much more sporadic contact with IRL. I can count the number of K-pop fans I properly know on one hand (two friends in their 30s, and my mum )...
