PROJECT GROUPS =/= SURVIVAL SHOWS

You're confusing project groups with survival shows. Although all of the project groups (incl. unb, uni.t) come from survival shows, a lot of permanent groups were born out of survival shows: Winner, Ikon, Twice, Fromis 9 etc. I think survival programs are great for creating a loyal fanbase, since it creates an early attachment to the trainees, but it does suck to see those who don't make it have to move on.

With YGs treasure box, I was rooting for Byoung-gon, and I was sad that he didnt make the final line-up, but then he left YG and will debut wit Bae Jinyoung in CIX, which makes me very excited to get to know the other members and follow that group.

i dont watch them because i hate watching long episodes of shows and thats the only reason why but honestly i rather just support the group then watch the show but i would also support trainees who didnt debut as well

I agree with u OP, what's the point of disbanding a group when they out here being successful asf just bc they're time is up.
And yeah, survival shows are rigged

I watched P101 S1, and decided to not watch another of their survival show, because of their evil edit and their way to make us waiting for the result. And it feals rigged with the later controversy. I really liked IOI through, but sure the contract period was too short. But it's difficult to negociate with so many agencies.

You can see it with Daniel Kim (Wanna One) conflicts with his agency, or with the Mix9 failure: YG wanted to extend the contract period but it wasn't what the companies send their trainees for, so he didn't debut the group as promised. He said he lost money during the production, but Black Pink quickly saved him, and he used his fund to illegally play in casino.

Now the companies seam to have learned. Sixteen gave Twice, Idol School gave fromis_9, P48 gave IZ*One, Welcome to Momolant gave Momoland. Permanent group will get more public support.

one of the problems I have with survival shows is that even though idols go on there to draw attention to their groups, a lot of people only end up supporting the temporary show group instead of also supporting the individual groups the idols came from. H.U.B is a good example, Hyosun got attention in The Unit with her 4Minute's Crazy performance, but H.U.B is still a fiercely underrated group. A.C.E, Boys Republic, MVP, and Gugudan are good examples too.

I get the individual groups are harder to keep up with altogether, and might not be your cup of tea, but if you want to actually support the idols then you need to support their permanent groups, too. There's a lot of akgae/solo fans that come out of survival shows too, that are sometimes disrespectful to the other group members that weren't in survival shows - but that's a whole other can of worms.
UNI.T and UNB where temporary group and they didn't have much support either. The Unit was a good show but it failed to attrack enough people attention to support them more.

i agree. there were so many groups who had to disband soon because of being under 2-year contract. bummer really.

Mnet don't care, they can make a new group each year, there are hundreds of trainees waiting.
Companies don't want to lose their ace trainee either, they will be their money maker.
But the public want long term group.

For the survival Shows that only create Temporary groups I don't really like because ur just using the Trainees for money basically let disbanding them to search for new bait basically tbh....
For the Survival Shows that create Prementiment groups are the best such as Stray Kids and No. Mercy because I feel like they are debuting groups that have the potential to go big but don't get me wrong the PD101 series also had really popular groups as well. I just feel like they can get a bigger fanbase bc they are a group for longer but the PD101 groups also have big fanbases but I don't think It will be as large as Stray Kids or Monsta X etc....

Just my opinion don't hate me
