as a dancer I feel like in the practice room you have more freedom, you can move as much as you need and there is room to mess up while as in performances you might have a bigger or smaller area to cover so you have to adapt your dance as you move. If you can't adapt to certain spaces and new environments then you shouldn't take up performing.

i agree with @Dejunjun . a good dance is talented and skilled at dancing, but a good performer can adapt to the conditions of the stage. a good performer must also have stage presence and be pleasant to watch; they invoke feeling in the audience, and their facials match the energy and mood of the dance, versus having a blank face or an expression that never changes.

A good dancer can do the moves well and be on time, also able to adapt. But a good performer can take the basic moves and incorporate them into their own thing, using facial expressions, vocal color, slight changes that make the moves their own.
