FALSE THINGS I USED TO THINK ABOUT KPOP
-Orange Caramel was NOT a subunit
-IU was a group...
-ok don't judge me on this but i thought jungkook and IU were dating...
-Kpop was.....an evil version of normal pop music?? IDK OK I WAS A KID AT THAT TIME
-My friend would listen to nightcore kpop, so the more she would do that, I thought it was japanese music more because of the anime picture...
-iz*one was an all japanese group
-i never knew rm and suga existed in bts til like 1-2 weeks trying to stan them
-i didn't think mamamoo was a KPOP group
-hwasa was oldest and solar was the youngest in mamamoo
-twice were teenagers

i might make a part 2 :)

-I thought After School Club was After School's reality show
-I thought idols won music shows based on the performance, instead of how it actually is with charting and sales
-I thought that Suju and Soju were the same thing
-The phrase 'Comeback', in America it means when a musicians releases new music many years after their most recent release. In kpop you can have as many comebacks as you want every year.
-I thought when people said they had a bias it was in a bad way, as being biased tends to be a negative thing
-I thought that Momoland was a group based on their love for Momo of Twice
Kind of just fan culture in general (light sticks, fanchants, fansigns, fan club names, and how dedicated they are to their artists)
I thought the majority of 3rd gen idols were my age (20) or younger...

-I thought momoland was a subunit in Twice, with momo being the leader in it
-I used to avoid Twice because of Momo's name....also momoland, i thought it was a scary momo cult😳
-Well this is not really mine, but one of my friends who also likes kpop. She used to call idols Kim, Park, or just by their last name because its first in korea. "who's ur bias in bts? say their real name." "Oh i like Jung"
-I thought kpop was...a whole agency. Like for example "exo's agency is kpop!"
-3RACHA was actually a group, not subunit
-txt debuted in 2016..or just earlier than that...
-loona was a cult because of "stan loona"
- I thought "stan loona" was a joke and they were actually bad
-iKON WAS AN OLD GROUP. LIKE THEY DEBUTED IN LIKE 2008 OR SOMETHING.
-X1 was an iKON or TXT subunit.
-You can terminate your contract whenever u want

The biggest one: many years ago my older sister said to me, "you know why Asians have slanted eyes?" And she said, " because back in the day, they used to pull at the edges of their eyes to help them see better, so they wouldn't have to get glasses, and it just became hereditary." And I believed that until 2018 when I got into KPop 😳😳😳😳😳😅😅😅😅😅

I literally made an account just to reply to this so here goes:
- There were only like about 5 entertainment companies in the industry (like YG, SM, JYP and some smaller ones)
- I DIDN'T KNOW GIRL GROUPS EXISTED (and what GG meant so I was confused AF)
- I didn't know what covers were so (technically not k-pop related but for a while anytime people said 'please check out my cover' meant like an album cover or something)
- I thought all artists wrote & produced all their songs cause BIGBANG (which was my first grp) did.
- I thought that every group had lightsticks, etc. (apparently some groups don't)

And, misconceptions K-POP made me have:
- That western artist also had promotions, lightsticks, merch etc.
- That comebacks were as common (or regular) in the western industry as in Korea
- Big groups were common (uhhh not)

yep that's about it oops

-baekhyun (exo) was in stray kids
-tzuyu (twice) was korean
-solar (mamamoo) was her real name
-taeyeon (snsd) solar and hwasa (mamamoo) were always soloists...
-got7 was the same thing as ot7
-got7 was an nct subunit because of the 2 Marks... and nct was a got7 subunit
-orbits (loona fans) were actually Astro's fandom
-xiumin (exo) and moonbyul (mamamoo) were siblings. same with hyunjin (skz)and yeji (itzy).
-jimin was the youngest in bts and rm was the oldest
-i thought nct was just another name for exo...

1. Kpop was all cute concepts (I know people don’t like people like me who act like cute concepts are bad. I don’t think they’re bad but they’re not my thing)
2. Blackpink was the best group in the world and everyone else sucked (dark times)
3. Twice was just wannabe Blackpink (I have this never ending urge to slap blink me)
4. All kpop idols had to be korean
5. Mamamoo had space names (I mean depending on which way you look at it you could consider Wheein and Hwasa space related)

Semi one: Ok so I count this differently because ig I’d never thought about it, but when my ex told me that Hwasa was the maknae of Mamamoo I was shocked. I’d never really considered who was the youngest, but I did not expect it to be Hwasa

-I was really surprised when I found out that Eunha, Sowon, Yuju, and Umji were stage names
-I thought Jin and Jungkook were the same person for a while
-I thought Twice's song 'TT' was about boobs because in America that's kind of close to a slang name for them, and the choreography kinda reinforced that
-It took me a while to figure out EP=Mini Album, also what a repackage was
-I thought BtoB was pronounced as BtoBob, despite it not being spelled like that at all
-I thought WJSN and GWSN were the same group
-I thought it was called Produce 48 because having 48 trainees would be easier than 101
-I had no clue what the hell that finger heart thing was
