Do you guys believe in Urban Legends?

I was inspired by @johnnyluvbot's haunted thread.

So, do you guys believe in Urban Legends?

There's plenty of different ones out there, from different parts of the world.

What's the scariest one you've heard?

I don't believe in it anymore, but my grandma used to tell us there was an entity that would kidnap kids who got out of bed at night to use the bathroom. She would tell us that if we got up to pee, the entity would come out of the drain from the sink or bath tub and take use to the sewers to be food for crocodiles.

It used to scare me when i was kid, so i would never get out of bed.

Another one i heard from a friend's older sibling was about a whistling woman who would go out and whistle in front of a house and if you whistled back, she would show up in your room and the sight of her would scare you so bad you would have a heart attack.

depends on how extreme the urban legend is tbh
but i was reading this book with collections of true haunted stories and there was one that was
”if u say u don’t want to have kids an old lady will come in ur room at night and leave scratches on ur back” or some crap like that and the girl telling the story said she didnt wanna have kids and she woke up with scratches running down her back
if this story is true then yikes

i just recently got over my catoptrophobia and it all started bc i heard of bloody mary

Bloody Mary used to be a favorite of mine as a kid, to try and scare my friends lol

I remember that one too! Gosh..It was one scary urban legend! But I try my best to face my fears...

i think urban legends (as well as ghost stories and monsters and all of that) are really interesting! i've never personally had any encounters that have affirmed any belief or disbelief in them, but my best friend has had tons! she's from the countryside and growing up she say a lot of stuff, like her family's goats getting eating by chupacabra, the ghost of an old relative of hers that roamed the neighborhood after dark and would kill men, a story that one of her great grandmothers made a deal with the devil so she could marry her husband..... i'm very much inclined to believe her!

i can't so much say that i want to have my own experience like that (the way she tells it, it sounds pretty scary and i'm not especially brave), but i kind of want to believe that its real. that there's aliens hiding out in the national forest and the chupacabra is roaming around the countryside, and la gargola is lurking around, etc etc. i consider myself very open to lots of possibilities.
