Creator Thoughts is a series I first started with ENCHANTRESS and later posted for Mythos. In these posts I show my behind the scenes of various aspects of the group such as stage names, albums, etc. I've decided it's now time to do so with Celestia! In this segment I will be discussing the creation of Celestia.
The Beginning
Celestia is a group with a similar origin as Mythos. Both of them were created for the fake survival show Bloom. A request was made for a company to take the winning female trainees. It was late at night and I was feeling particularly impulsive, so I said I would do it. From there I first made Mythos. However I am a very impatient person, and I couldn't wait for Bloom to progress. I ended up debuting Mythos cause I felt their concept was too good to stay in the books. So after Mythos debuted I needed a new group for the winners of Bloom to join. This is where Celestia comes in.
The Concept
I decided on Celestia's concept through it's company Ever After. Ever After's mission statement involves telling a story with each of its artists. For ENCHANTRESS it's fairytales, and for Mythos it is Greek Mythology. So I started to think about/do some research about other stories I could tell. It was tough but I eventually settled on astrology and the stories of the stars. I thought it could also be good to have a sort of space concept due to the lack of it on the forums. This concept allowed me to pick Celestia's sound. I was deciding between a large group with a cute concept or a small group with an R&B sound and minimal dancing. I ended up picking the small group because ENCHANTRESS already has a cute side to their concept. This then evolved into a ballad group (that sort is still R&B) that doesn't dance at all. Part of me chose this because there were no ballad groups on the forums.
The Name
For things like albums I typically try to find names by looking up synonyms for the concept. I did the same thing with Celestia's name. I looked up different terms associated with space, astrology, and the zodiac. I found Celestial and that soon became Celestia. I'm still unsure if I want Celestia to be lowercase or all caps.
The Fan Name
Celestia's fandom name is called Luna. This means moon in Latin. I picked it because it's another space term and it's pretty. It also had a nice meaning of how humans need the moon to survive, so Celestia could not live without Luna. Really similar to ENCHANTRESS's Aurora but oh well, I like it.
Other Random Things
Celestia's greeting is "Forever Shine" and then they pinch their fingers by their eyes (kinda like what Yeji does in "Dalla Dalla"). I feel like I could have been much more creative than 'Forever Shine' but it's what I eventually decided on. A lighter blue and silver were chosen as official colors because those are the colors I think of when I think of space and the stars. Their logo features a moon with a ring around it (represents Luna), and three stars (represents the members). I decided to do a different type of roll out of the members this time. So I came up with a couple fake trainees, made some drama, etc. It was fun!
The Members
Celestia was either gonna be a cute concept group with 7 members or a ballad group with 2-3 members. As mentioned above, I picked the small ballad group. The number of members in Celestia ranged from 2-3. At one point I figured I would make the group exclusively for the 2 Bloom winners, but I then decided I would need to put one of my original trainees in. I felt a small number of members would be good for a vocally focused group. The members would have a heftier amount of lines to show their voices off. Eventually Bloom never ended so I started to make all 3 members from scratch. Yeona Yeona was the first member to be created, maybe cause she's the leader. I found the name Yeona by looking through Korean baby names. Yeona's name means heart of gold, but that's not why I chose it. I picked Yeona cause the name was similar to the name of the female protaganist in the anime Yona of the Dawn. To be frank, I've only seen maybe 2 episodes, but I remember loving the name. I also think her having a title of 'of the dawn' fit the astrology concept. Yona is also a Princess which helped form Yeona's personality. With the Princess theme I decided Yeona's personality would be really regal and expensive. Her personality quickly became similar to Irene's. Yeona became Leader, Lead Vocalist and Visual. Even though she's a lead vocal, she's better than the majority of my other idols. Her vocal tone also has a similar regal vibe, which is why she sounds like Chungha. I finally made Yeona the leader and eldest out of all of my idols because of this personality. SeolA was an easy choice for face claim due to her sophisticated visuals. Byeol
Byeol was the 2nd member made, as she is the member who I associate with the most. Byeol's name was the hardest to come up with. I can't remember the other options but I ended up picking Byeol. This name means 'star' which perfectly fits their concept. Part of me felt bad for the other members because it fits a bit too well. But I decided if I made it part of her birth name it couldn't be helped. With Byeol I knew I wanted her to be a cute maknae with a powerful voice. She quickly sounded like Taeyeon in my head. This helped me choose Chaewon of Class:y as her faceclaim. Chaewon sounds a lot like Taeyeon and has a very cute face. Byeol became the Main Vocal and Center (along with maknae) because I wanted to maintain the trend of the main vocal being center in Ever After groups. It also made sense to me because it's a vocal group, so the main vocal should be center. Byeol's personality is very similar to Chaeryeong of ITZY to me. That kinda adorable space cadet vibe was perfect for her. But I also wanted to make her dorky lol. Although she is an adorable maknae, I decided she needed to be of age with Celestia's more mature concept, so 2004 it was. Grace Originally Celestia contained all Korean members, however I came up with a back story of one of the members being semi-famous on TikTok. So I decided to have an international member. I picked Canada for Grace because I already have Bada from the US. Grace is very similar to Yunjin of Le Sserafim for me. However her personality is a bit more rambunctious. But I can 100% see Grace playing the ukulele like Yunjin does in predebut videos. I think I picked Grace as her name after looking up something like 'pretty english names'. Grace came up and I knew immediately that that was it. I also gave her a higher and brighter voice because the other members had more powerful and deep voices. Grace became the lead vocalist, rapper, and fotg. Grace is the rapper of the group just because I think it suits her personalty. She's very adventurous and willing to try new things. I think if an Ever After PD went up to her and said, he we need someone to do these rap lines, she would jump at it. I also think her knowing more than one language would help. I decided to make her a lead vocal instead of sub vocal, because it would be a disservice to her skill. Like Yeona, she's not the main vocal, but she ranks high amongst Ever After idols. Idk why I picked Umji as her face claim outside of her voice. Originally Grace sounded like Umji, but I knew I had to pick someone with more skill. So then it went to Rose and now it's finally at Bol4. But idk I guess it was the vibes?
That's all for now. After a few more releases I will do creator thoughts for their debut album.
