I've always loved singing, and I am part of my school choir. We have auditions for the Drama Club musical (Legally Blonde!) soon, my friend and i are auditioning for our school concert too! Does anybody have any tips on how to improve your singing? Thank you!

Ummm my choir teacher always said to practice good posture since it sill help ( still don't understand why but I trust her), also practincing the pitches and good warm ups. Its also important to keep ur throat hydrated and rest ur voice occasionally. Also relax when ur singing. Hope this kinda helps!!

Especially in a musical, keep your diction in mind! Your words will need to be clear and easy to understand to follow the storyline. Breathing is very important--make sure you know exactly where you have time to take a breath and that you can last the time in between and support your sound. Make sure you're breathing into your stomach area instead of your chest, so your shoulders shouldn't move. It's the same place you breathe into when you lie on your back. But also just practice a bunch! The notes are important, but the storytelling is just as much, so make sure you don't focus too much on one and abandon the other. Keep your throat open and don't strain. If you can get any time with a more experienced singer (be it an older student in choir, the teacher, a university student studying music and singing, a vocal coach, or if you have any family members who sing), they'll be able to give more specific tips. This can be very scary, but it's what's helped me most. I think there are apps that check if you're singing in tune as well?

OMG I'm literally in legally blonde at my uni!

vocal warm ups are very important
you can propbably youtube some of those
don't strain to sing high notes
don't drink milk if you're about to sing (milk make a film in your throat and creates mucus and makes it hard to sing)
drink water, tea, apple cider to soothe your voice

The posture is for breath support! Good posture creates space for your lungs to expand more, and it creates less strain in the body.

Well I was in choir but I did karaoke to at places some advice would be lay on a hard surface of your house for example a bedroom floor it helps with maintaining your breath so you don't hold it for too long. 2nd would be try practicing notes sing a song and see what you can improve. 3rd DO. NOT. FORCE.IT if you force your voice to go high then it could lead to a voice crack or something. 4th do warm ups before singing like vocal no words just do a low hum but make it an Ooo and then go high so it is kinda like a roller coaster

Okee okee idk if I'm late to this but here's some tips I use!

I was a soprano in choir so idk if this'll apply to you, but its still good practice!

When hitting higher notes, try not to sing "with your head" IF you feel buzzing on the top of your mouth or feel it in your head, your using your throat, possibly straining it. Instead, push out the note with your chest. Basically to test how It feels just do a vocal sigh using your diaphragm and lungs. (If you're doing it right, you should feel it in your chest/lungs NOT your head or throat!)

Now in general terms, Posture is IMPORTANT! Don't slump! also try not to be too stiff. Especially if hitting higher notes. Instead, Just lean your shoulder back comfortably, And make sure to breathe! Use that Diaphragm! Small gesturing movements can help guide your voice as well! (Swaying, hand movements, kinda like acting but not)

sry if I'm late on this but... I love singing (I'm in a choir too!) and I've improved so much from when I started and up until now. (and mind you that I'm not amazing but I would consider myself pretty good). I would recommend consistency, singing as much as you can really helps. And try notes that you aren't accustomed too! Slowly try hitting notes that are hard for you, it may seem uncomfortable at first but trust me you'll get better! Some songs that helped me a lot were from SIX: the musical, Hamilton, and Epic: The musical. Also maybe try Taylor Swift, her songs are easy but still slightly challenging! or Sweet Venom, I'm still trying to get that song down 🤞. I hope this helps and feel free to ask me if you need anything else <3
