SECONDARY CHARACTERS
Feng Xin - Also known as Nan Yang, the Martial God of the Southeast, Feng Xin is a skilled archer who used to be Xie Lian's personal bodyguard in his mortal life. He ascended to heaven through pure martial might rather than by cultivation, but despite being a heavenly official he has a temper and tends to swear a lot, frequently getting into fights with Mu Qing. Although he has a strong moral compass and a loyal heart, Feng Xin has great difficulty dealing with women and tries to avoid them at all costs. This problem was exacerbated when a mispelling at one of his temples led to an obscene spelling that had women flocking there in droves to pray for help with sexual matters.
Fu Yao - A man who arrives unexpectedly to assist Xie Lian, proclaiming himself to be a junior heavenly official serving under General Xuan Zhen, Martial God of the Southwest. He is accompanied by Nan Feng, with whom he constantly bickers and fights.
Banyue - A wrath-level ghost who served as the imperial percepter of the desert kingdom of Banyue in her mortal life. She herself brought about the nation's ruin by letting it fall into the hands of their enemies and spent 200 years after her death confining the vengeful spirits there to the local area to minimize their effect on the mortal realm.
Eming - The infamous scimitar forged by Hua Cheng, which he can wield by hand or send flying through the air. Although many in the Heavenly Realm fear the blade and believe it to be cursed, Eming is actually a sentient weapon, sensitive to the emotions of its handler. Like its owner, Eming is especially fond of Xie Lian.
Guzi - A small boy originally chosen for
Qi Rong to eat, but instead becomes his "cheap son" when the ghost possesses the body of the child's dead father and Guzi refuses to leave him.
He Xuan - A Supreme-level ghost king known as a Devastation and one of the Four Great Calamities. He is also known as "Black Water Sinking Ships," as any vessel that passes the barrier into his ocean lair will sink unless it is made of coffin wood. He keeps giant skeletal fish as pets to guard his realm and has a reputation for having a huge appetite, devouring massive quantities of food and even other ghosts
Jun Wu - Jun Wu is the strongest martial god in existence and also has the greatest number of human worshippers. He reigns over the other gods as the Heavenly Emperor and is frequently called upon to judge disputes and punish the wrongdoings of other heavenly officials, even possessing the authority to strip them of their power and banish them from heaven entirely. He seems to favor
Xie Lian despite having banished him twice.
lang Qianqiu - Also known as Tai Hua, Lang Qianqiu was the crown prince of Yong'an centuries ago and is currently the Martial God of the East. Honest, loyal, and upright, he can at times seem naive and almost innocent to the other gods. He falls asleep at boring meetings and his
attendant has to run around bringing him things he forgets, but he is also quick to take action when he perceives an injustice and charges into situations with reckless abandon. He wields a large magnetic sword forged from a lodestone that absorbs other pieces of metal into itself.
Ling Wen - A highly competent but severely overworked civil goddess who is forever burdened by the bureaucracy of the heavenly court. She is generally the one called upon to handle paperwork, relay messages, and dig up information for the other heavenly officials. She is also in charge of maintaining the spiritual communication array everyone uses, which was created by Ling Wen herself. Because she is worshipped by some humans who mistakenly believe her to be a man, she can also take a male form when she chooses.
Ming Yi - One of Heaven's five Elemental Masters. Often seen in the company of Shi Qingxuan, who cheerfully proclaims them to be best friends, although his "best friend" might have a different opinion on the matter.
Mu Qing - Also known as Xuan Zhen, the Martial God of the Southwest. He hides his caring nature behind a veneer of coldness and sarcasm and is especially spiteful towards Feng Xin, who he feels is a hypocrite for pointing out his past failings while overlooking his own. Mu Qing has strong spiritual powers due to his eight centuries of cultivation and having over seven thousand temples filled with worshippers, but like other gods his abilities lessen the farther away he is from the region under his jurisdiction. In his youth, he was Crown Prince Xie Lian's personal attendant, with both young men training under the same cultivation master, Mei Nianqing.
Nan Feng - A man who arrives unexpectedly to assist Xie Lian, proclaiming himself to be a junior heavenly official serving under General Nan Yang, Martial God of the Southeast. He is accompanied by Fu Yao, with whom he constantly bickers and fights.
Pei Ming - Also known as General Ming Guang, Martial God of the North. Well-known for his arrogance and his womanizing ways, Pei Ming has spent hundreds of years flirting his way across the Three Realms. Originally a powerful warrior from the kingdom of Xuli, he ascended to heaven after breaking his sword following a battle. He is the ancestor of Pei Xiu, who was the second member of his family to follow in his footsteps and ascend to godhood.
Pei Xiu -
Qi Rong - A crass, trouble-making ghost infamous for his cruelty, vulgarity, and taste for human flesh. Also known as the Night-Touring Green Lantern, he is the weakest of the Four Great Calamities, having not yet achieved the power needed to become a Devastation, or Supreme-level ghost king. Even so, he has contempt for pretty much everyone, even those whose power far exceeds his own. In his mortal life, he was the spoiled second prince of Xianle and idolized his cousin
Xie Lian, but turned against him when Xie Lian failed to save their doomed kingdom.
Quan Yizhen -
Ruoye - Xie Lians Magical Object
Shi Qingxuan - One of Heaven's five Elemental Masters and the younger sibling of
Shi Wudu. Flighty, flirty, and full of fun, Wind Master Shi Qingxuan is filled with spirit and sass and makes sure to always look fabulous no matter what form he (or she) takes, usually holding either a Daoist horsehair whisk or the Wind Master Fan. Often switching back and forth between male and female, Shi Qingxuan is worshipped by humans in both forms.
White No Face - The most powerful of the Four Great Calamities, Bai Wuxiang - or White No-Face - is responsible for the destruction of entire kingdoms, including Xie Lian's birthplace of Xianle. Cruel and manipulative, he orchestrates and delights in Xie Lian's suffering and has repeatedly attempted to use the pain and trauma he causes to corrupt him. Like Xie Lian, he garbs himself in all white but conceals his face with a mask that appears to be laughing on one side and crying on the other.
Yin Yu - A former heavenly official who now resides in Ghost City in the employ of Hua Cheng. He hides his face behind a mask and has a cursed shackle on his wrist. Before his banishment from heaven, he was one of two Martial Gods of the West, the other being Quan Yizhen.
Yushi Huang -
