Sunoo woke up almost immediately from the dream he had been having for the last week. His bedroom was dark still, the first rays of sunlight just now began to shift through the blinds in his room. His shirt clung to his body, damp with sweat, his black hair stuck to his forehead in the same manner.
He reached for the bedside table and flipped his lamp on, as he looked around his room. Everything was where it was supposed to be....right?
"One...two...three...four...no...one is missing.."
Sunoo's bare feet hit the cold floor as he threw his sheets off of him, speed walking to his vanity. His hands shook as he reached forward and touched each of the figurines on his vanity. There should be four. There's always four. Why is there three?
Panic took over him as he began to look around his room, searching for the missing figurine.
"Sunoo."
That voice. That deep familiar voice.
Sunoo stopped, clothes basket mid air, as he turned around. Niki was leaning against his door frame, and in his hand was the missing figurine.
Relief washed over Sunoo as he dropped his clothes basket to the ground and walked over, taking the figurine, turning to place it back on his vanity.
"Thank you, Niki."
But when he turned back around, Niki was gone. Sunoo smiled some. Niki was his best friend, they had been best friends since they were young. Niki, even though younger than him, was always more mature than Sunoo, always looking out for him.
But Niki was also very secretive. Sunoo wasn't allowed in the younger boy's room, he had to knock and then Niki would come to the door but never fully allow Sunoo in.
"Sunoo. You were day dreaming again."
Sunoo looked up. Oh. Right. He was, wasn't he. He didn't speak as the nurse placed a small white cup down with a pill, and another bigger paper cup with water.
"Take this and tell us what happened that day, Sunoo." She explained softly.
Sunoo looked down at the bandages on his arms, he didn't want to talk about that day. He was just following Niki's orders as usual...and now he was here, confused and scared.
Where was Niki? Why wasn't he coming to save him? Sunoo thought they were best friends but Niki had abandoned him in the end, just like everyone else.
