Is it better to be underrated or overrated?

Do you think it's better to be underrated or overrated?


I feel like it's better to be overrated than to be a flop. Regardless if the fanbase is toxic or not and if their music is worthwhile.

The underrated groups usually have the better bops rather than the overrated groups, in my opinion.

I think it really depends on your priorities. If your focus is on being world famous and fabulously wealthy, regardless of how you get there, that's fine.
Personally, I think I'd prefer to put out quality content, and have a decent but loyal fanbase. As long as I'm turning enough of a profit to make it worthwhile (and to keep the label happy), I'm good.

Honestly, it’s probably better to be overrated bc then you still get the recognition and you get to share your music (which is technically the reason it’s made). But if you’re underrated, it doesn’t really matter how good your music is if no one ever hears it

Well, yeah, but frankly the terms "overrated" and "underrated" are nebulous anyway. There's a difference between having a niche following and being completely unknown...

That’s not technically true. I know of a lot of underrated groups who have just as much popularity and fans as a big overrated group, the only difference is the underrated groups fan base is less toxic then the overrated groups fan base.

True, I guess by underrated it’d mean successful but not to the extreme of BTS, I’d be cool with that, just not completely unknown

Yes... At first, Armys had a pure heart to stay united and strong... but as it grows, the fandom begins to fall apart to yell at other fandoms... it's almost like boasting... Like, "Look at us, then look at you guys!" Which saddens me.

Which in turn, gives all kpop fandoms a bad rep. The toxicity is what kept me away for such a long time that I didn’t even want to listen to kpop. But luckily I listened to some songs and fell into this rabbit hole. I just try to ignore the toxic fans

In my opinion, Army’s and Blinks are two of the worse fandoms right now, followed by EXO-L’s, but Armys and Blinks are always starting unnecessary fanwars, especially Army’s. It’s a shame to, but it’s also what drove me to unstan BTS

Armys... They're starting to become toxic... They were using the term 'loyal' to BTS and talking bad about TXT... Being a fan of both, I really think that it's unnecessary unless they didn't have the strong heart to stay loyal to both. They were talking bad about TXT like, "We will never stan them! Army forever!"
