i'm only now realising how traumatised toritsuka probably is:
- because Toritsuka could see and speak to ghosts from a young age, he likely scared other children and adults, leading to a lack of good childhood interactions.
- he was mostly raised by monks, which suggests a restricted childhood that may have prevented normal bonds with the people around him
- living constantly with spirits, including being haunted by Nendou's dad, would probably be hell. imagine trying to sleep at night but always having spirits nagging at you. saiki probably has the same with people's thoughts
- over time, Toritsuka probably grew to view his medium abilities as the weakest compared to Saiki and Aiura, which feeds into a need for validation and worth
- he's always being bullied and hated by the people around him, just because all people see him as is a creep
