Is kpop getting repetitive?

I personally feel like it is. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish a group from another. Like it's just another copy. There are some groups that are easy to tell apart with a different concept. But what I've observed, most of the top-charting songs are kinda the same. The same instruments, beat drops and such. There are groups that release songs that are not the same as others but people pass it off as either noise or experimental... technically calling it bad. It's almost like we don't like change in music. There are people that want a change but when a group does that they, as I stated call it noise or experimental. Like they aren't happy with it. I'm not saying that songs that are different are always bad but they don't suit the general publics liking. There's some songs that are, without a doubt, straight-up bad. When others that are arguably quite good. I guess it's just preference in music, you know?

Note: I felt like making a thread like this in weeks, but I didn't until now since I've haven't come to a clear conclusion yet. Thanks for checking this thread out though.

EDIT: I kinda feel like I didn't get my point across, I'll make another thread to make things more straight forward when I can ig....

Yeah I wish I had joined the kpop fever sooner, somewhere between 2009-2010.
Mhm I agree. Music business are always more or less generally repetitive.
I kinda wish too. But I would be wayyyy to young to join kpop at that time.
It's what sells ig

I think it's also because music has been so popular that other groups may be trying the same thing as the others but it is possible they do not want to branch out but I hope they do!
Yeah, like they want to get recognized too you know? Ever since Kpop has been in the eyes of the media groups have been debuting left and right to get even the lightest of profit. They make similar songs to break into the market. In this current time, it's great to debut more and more groups.

Agreed but they also want to make a profit and I do not agree it should be like that but it is risky ESPECIALLY in kpop to try different things. This is a good conversation to have!

I agree that in kpop it's good to be risky but if groups try to, they might get bashed for it you know? Like their song will fall into the category of either 'noise' or being called 'experimental'.

At least allow them to try smh
Honestly... I think remixes can be a great way to try it out!! Cause remix is... a remix! It doesn't technically qualify in the 'song' song group if you get what I mean.

Yea it needs a balance, they could fall into the unknown that are all the same but they might get backlash if they do try new things. It is hard to strike the balance.
