i am a beginner and i js washed it off a few mins ago so it is still light, i'm waiting for it to go darker but this is what it looks like rn

smth i've noticed is that Muslims are naturally really good at henna and like they have so many occasions they can actually practice for (i'm mainly speaking what ik abt Indian Muslims idk how other's really are) and watching it dry?? i always thought washing it off was more satisfying

We aren't Indian but my mom (African American) grow up around lots of cultures so she learned about henna, washing it off is fun too!

I know you're not Indian, it's mentioned in your about page. Being able to do henna is actually really cool. Like to get control over the actual henna cone is pretty hard. It took me quite a while to be able to actually control a henna cone and do actual stuff with it. Waiting for it to dry is a lot more boring cause we get forced to leave it to dry about 6-8 hours, or sometimes to sleep

grandparents and great uncles and aunts are used to the natural henna that u make and u have to let it wait for about that long for it to stay properly so they use that for the henna cones u get at the store. the henna cones u get at stores have an alcohol in it to make it dry faster that's why u only have to leave it on for 30 mins.

whenever I'm with my grandparents i usually get them or my mum to make the henna cause it lasts a lot longer if it's the natural stuff

the ones u get at the store are normal henna, natural henna is js straight up grinded/mashed or whatever u call it henna leaves that's turned into paste and yeah

idk, i've never had to buy it... we usually make our own if we have access to the leaves. like if u can find henna leaves or the literal plant, js get a few leaves, turn it into paste, shove it in a zip lock bag, cut the corner and voila u have natural handmade henna (ik that makes no sense but worth a try right)
