This is a thread for opinions to do with certain kpop groups or idols which you think may be quite controversial and so you don’t want to actually name the group/idol as to avoid causing drama or spreading hate.
The aim for this thread is to be honest and get stuff off your chest, without upsetting fans or spreading hate to an artist directly. While it may be tempting, please don’t ask users who their opinions are about in case they don’t want to share and feel pressured.
Though the opinions are indirect, try not to be TOO hateful to an artist
1. My feelings towards this idol are very mixed. I used to respect them a lot due to their artistry and attitude towards criticism, however they’ve also done stuff I find worrying. I saw a video today where they were speaking about a very sensitive issue in quite a worrying way and the comments were filled with people saying “twinning” and stuff which has made me lose my respect
2. This idol is really popular for aegyo and being cute but I find them quite annoying. And their fans make it worse
3. I don’t get how people like this group because most of their title tracks sound so messy to me
4. Another group is really popular at the moment which even without other problems with the group I wouldn’t listen to anyway because I find their concept boring
5. Even though this group will never stop being successful due to their company and history, I agree with some people that they’re not what they used to be
This group is not problematic with anything the members have done but everything behind the group is. Their music is also kinda boring now and got hyped up so quickly and became overrated.
this group is both very overrated and overhyped. their music is mediocre. their fans always eat up everything they do and defend them like their life depends on it. they also love to bring up this group when they have absolutely nothing to do with the topic being discussed or when this one group in particular is being praised. they also love to drag the same group through the mud for no reason at all and it’s very aggravating
i love this group a lot. i wouldn't say they are my ults, but their music has always been pretty good.
its the members I have a problem with. all of them are full-grown adults and they have done/said stuff that is very problematic and racist.
specifically one member.
and this annoys me so much because they are definitely pretty popular and they are supposed to influence others.
but they set a lot of wrong examples instead such as their racist/problematic behavior
This idol is incredibly popular and very loved but they annoy the crap out of me. I have a strong dislike for them.
Everything they do is for attention and it takes away from the rest of the members.
Their fans will also come to their defense for every little mistake, because they're afraid constructive criticism will send them down the deep end. This idol needs to grow up

I don't understand why this group is popular? To me it seems like a Blackpink 2.0 with all their songs sounding the same. None of the members are super talented either.

i love this fandom and the group sm but the fandom would attack me if I said the song was bad.
especially since its one of their most popular/iconic songs.
I don’t want to be too judgemental of this group since idk what’s happening behind the scenes. But most years they’re not even releasing one song let alone several comebacks with multiple songs. Yet they’re still giving like 50% effort on stage. Like I said, idk what they’re up to, idk what conditions their bodies are in. But if you have years to perfect these performances not learning new choreos and songs how are you still giving subpar performances
i don’t really like this group. it’s nothing about the members, just the music. usually whenever i listen to a new group, i go for their most popular songs as they must be popular for a reason, and most popular songs tend to be title tracks. however, every time i try and listen to their title tracks i find myself so bored and i just genuinely don’t like their songs. this group is extremely popular and is a few years old alr so they have an established fandom, but sometimes i wonder what exactly ppl like abt their songs.
i feel like ppl are willfully ignorant to how bad this idol messed up. i feel like it should be extremely obvious why many ppl stopped supporting this idol bc of what she did, but her stans continue to act like it was a simple mistake and not a big deal. i also find it annoying how this idol’s stans act as if other fans of the group are less than for not supporting this idol anymore
this one might be obvious? i’m not sure. this group’s fandom is so funny. i feel like ppl who deny it are lying sometimes, esp when you realize that tons of other fans reuse jokes started/popularized by that fandom
There is one member of a popular 3rd gen bg who I genuinely think is untalented regarding idol skills. He can't really sing, he can't really rap, and his dance is just so so to me. I think it's mostly his visuals he is valued for, but the general public tends to not think of him as a top visual. Another member of his group is more popular for that. Idk whenever I see him perform I'm just confused as to why he chose this as a career path. This sounds so mean but....
I really enjoy this group but theres one member that i find extremely problematic, they do all these things that can offend others yet they continue. It seems like they just dont understand and when this member in particular released solo music, i was not a fan. It got hyped up way too much and i found it some what obnoxious, like to me it didnt scream kpop, it screamed modern day American music. It feels like this idol attached themselves to america so much to the point where their music sounds american like. Idk, it wasnt my cup of tea and this member also just isnt it all that much.
I’ve seen this idol performing a lot recently - they’re so talented with great stage presence. The thing is, their group’s music SUCKS. It’s not often I genuinely hate a song let alone multiple from the same group, but this group achieves it. Such a shame the idol was wasted being in that group
a lot of ppl always praise this idol’s aegyo saying it’s so good, they should be the only one to do aeygo, etc. but it’s rlly not that good. it’s extremely overhyped
a lot of ppl ask why this group isn’t more popular and i think a reason is bc the main vocalist is a very stylistic singer (sings in cursive) which is fine to ignore most times but sometimes it comes out so much and it’s so noticeable it genuinely makes the songs unenjoyable. i hate stylistic singers
