This thread is inspired by the one posted by @shinnayu
The original thread discussed past trends you are glad are over, this one is about current ones you wish would end already.
I couldn't really think of past ones but I can absolutely think of current trends I want to die.

1. TikTok Challenges
TikTok challenges is making kpop feel less like kpop. Dances are made to be too simple and cater to the western market. Choruses are lacking lyrics so these choreo challanges can be highlighted. This is leading to an over-saturation of chanting and drop choruses in kpop songs. This is my least favorite type of chorus. I think it can be cute when the challenge doesn't have to do with dance, such as NCT 127's 'new things' challange for "Kick It". The one thing I like about this trend is seeing idols from different groups collaborate with each other.

2. Y2K Trend/Aesthetic
I just really don't like the Y2K trend. The fashion, the music, the makeup, the clucky accessories and electronics. The only exception in Yena's "Smiley" album. This one is more of a personal one, since I know a lot of people like this trend and aesthetic.

3. Selling An Album for Each Member
I think this is stupid and leads to more solo stanning and differences in popularity. If you want to support the group then buy the group's album and not a single group members. If you're gonna make individual albums then at least offer a full group one. With ITZY's "Checkmate" album I could only find individual member versions to purchase. The only exception I can think of is something like SuperM, when the group is made up of idols from existing groups. But still, I don't like it.

☆ ITZY - LOCO [Ver. C] ☆
These are so true 😭
Some kpop songs have become so obviously made to be Kpop trends (literally Pop! Is a great song but some of the choreo literally WAS A TIKTOK TREND)
And then album for each member?? If I collected albums there would be no way I purchase one for each member. Like as if I felt JYP was being money hungry having 1 per ITZY member for Loco and Sneakers, WJSN HAVING 13 TOTAL ALBUMS WITH 10 OF THOSE BEING PER MEMBER??? Hell no.

The Y2K aesthetic is a bit hit or miss for me. I couldn’t really care less about me. Defo not my fave trend

4. AI and computer generated idols.
I'm talking about aespa's robot alters, the fake idol in the group Superkind, and those generated perfect idols companies are making.
The industry already focuses so much on perfection, by creating these perfect idols we are sending a message to actual people that they are not good enough.

1. The mullet hairstyle on male idols
2. Album Bulk buying culture (like for fansigns, they should just make ppl buy a lot of raffle tickets that can cost maybe $1 each or something instead of albums which is a huuuuge waste of money if they buy like a lot)
3. Weekly music show wins
4. Girlfriend/boyfriend selling image & fanservice
5. Idols (male especially) dating that are considered “scandals” or frowned upon (female fans especially that think that they own their male idol/can be with their idol are the ones that need to realise and accept that their idol will NEVER date or marry them)
6. Goes along with no.4 but sasaeng culture

1. debuting children under 16 or 17. that's still rly young, but children >15 certainly have no business being debuted
2. the tiktok challenges. while i enjoy seeing my faves make tiktoks together, i'd rather them be doing actual choreo together (since, ya know. they're all trained to dance) than the basic stuff meant to appeal to western fans. if fans wanna do the choreo, they can learn real choreo.
3. endless pobs. as a collector, i just ignore pobs and only buy them if they're cute and decently priced, but there is zero need for there to be 25+ pobs for a single member. i think if grps wanna do pobs, they should do it like twice, where everyone who preorders gets a full set

The rapping positions are absolutely completely unnecessary for 98% of the groups (except for the ones that are hip-hop based like e.g. skz, ikon, epik high). I’ll never get why it’s always been a thing for every kpop group to have a rapping position required, and that needs to GO.
Literally not every single song needs rapping parts in it. If I hear a song that has more raps than vocals in it then it’ll definitely be a skip song with no hesitation.
