On April 21, 2018, I lost someone that used to be my aunt. She was going to marry my uncle but they broke up. I lived with her and my uncle since I was 10. Her and I used to fight a lot but we got really close. She and my uncle didn't work out so she moved in with my grandma that let her stay there. We were still really close but one day when she went to eat out with my grandma and brothers they were about to eat but she passed out not being able to breathe. She started turning purple in the face. When this was happening my uncle, me, my sister, and my cousin were in the car coming from a place that was about 45 minutes away from were we live. My grandma called my uncle and I was in the back seat but I could hear her on the phone telling my uncle that she passed away. As soon as my uncle's girlfriend at the time heard she looked straight back at me and I was looking out the window with my hand covering my mouth bouncing my leg trying not to cry. My cousin started rubbing my back and I burst into tears hugging her tightly in the car. My other cousin loved and cared for her just as much as I did so we went to her mom's house and my uncle/her dad told her and she burst into tears and ran to me crying. We were both crying our eyes out. It was the worst day of my life until... Just this last week...

When I was 12 there was this event that happened in my town that resulted in the deaths of over 2 dozen people. The way they died was tragic and violent. I knew some that died and my community as a whole died. I can’t give further specifics because it would make my location obvious. Please don’t do research into it. I’m still not over it and cry about it at least once a month. It’s something that should never happen to anyone and unfortunately it had to happen to my community. My town has never been the same and I have to drive by the location where it happened everyday. Anytime I watch the news and a similar event is being talked about I flashback to that day and it’s just really hard.

Honestly, that sounds like it was a nightmare to live through. I can't imagine the pain and panic you must've been in at that age in the middle of a violent event. I sincerely hope that you feel more comforted and feel a little better knowing that we're all here for you. I still can't imagine how it would be like to live through such a scary thing. ❤❤ I'll be here as well if you need to talk

hmm i think the mosque shooting was the worst event about someone dying in NZ
thankfully for me i wasn't in the area but i do have family members who live in the city that it happened honestly that was the bit that scared me the most.

I think it sort of does. Knowing that a scary event happened and having family members over there is worrying.
In fact, I have a lot of family on my mom's side in a country under bad government and it's a scary time over there. They're safe but it's worrying.

I live in a house right by a court of houses and so I was up late on my chromebook, browsing through everskies (dress up game LOL) and I hear gunshots that sound right outside my window!! I get up hecka fast and go into the living room (don't do this pls-) no one was there so i went back to my room, end of story my parents called the police and it was 2 people that shot through someones sons window bc he was in a gang!!! love my neighborhood <333 no one was hurt thankfully
also yes the house was really close to my window so thankfully i didnt die KJHGHSKJFJ

police were at my house for a majority of the night + they came in the morning so that was fun LOL /s

I think it sort of does. Knowing that a scary event happened and having family members over there is worrying.

Yeah I can vouch for how scary it can be.
With the event that happened in my town I didn't know if my brother was alive or not for a short period of time. It's such a terrifying feeling not to know.
And even when I knew he was safe, I didn't know if so many other people were alive or not. The body count just kept going up and they didn't release the names until a couple of days later.

one day about a week after he died my mom finally told us and it was the first time ive ever seen my brother cry because he was really close with him and lived with him for most of his life

My grandma died 7 years ago of breast cancer, and my parents for a while actually thought I had a mental disorder because I never cired in front of them.... But as soon as I was alone in my bed, I sobbed my heart out. I had been at a friend’s birthday pool party while my uncles and other older family members got to say goodbye—- I wasn’t allowed to, and I think for good reason. We were very close. I don’t think I could have handled watching her die.
