I think they are both over reported and overrated in some ways.
If you look at koreaboo.com most of the top articles include BTS, even if there is even more pressing news at the moment.
For example: "BTS's Jimin Confesses He Likes French Fries" would be higher up than "Insert Idol Is Charged with Traffic Violation".
I also do think that they are overrated due to their massive following. When most people get into kpop they tend to do so through BTS, as they are the most popular internationally. That means a lot of new fans will follow them, along with older ones that started with them.
With newer fans especially, they get tunnel vision and don't see what other groups/artists bring. They make generalized and blatant statements like "BTS are the best singers in kpop", "V is the most attractive idol", "BTS has the best songs out of all groups".
This leads the general fandom to embrace these messages even if they aren't completely truthful.
I think an excellent example of BTS being overrated is award shows.
It makes sense that they win categories that are based on sales and such, but for performance based ones no.
Those should be judged by professionals and I strongly believe that fan voting should be removed from these categories.
But I won't go further into this as I will get too salty.
So yes I think BTS is both over reported and overrated. This does not mean they aren't talented, as they very much are. We as a fandom need to be more open to other artists and stop making such generalized hyperbolas.

Music: A bunch of beautiful sounds that get thrown together in order for someone to express themselves, whether they're writing it or listening to it.

Both It became some peoples nature just because of how they're born..others learn to be bad and end up hurting others when really theyre the ones in pain

Because the ones who call BLM "riots" and "terrorism" are the same ones that stormed the capitol, they wanna lie to themselves and say they're right, even though they're not.
