i was just wondering. i know there probably isn't a set in stone timeline that says when you stop being a rookie.

i used to think rookies were artists that had't won a music show yet, but i know that's not really the case. otherwise artists who won with their first song wouldn't still be called rookies. plus i know there are groups who promoted for years without getting a music show win who aren't really called rookies (i wouldn't call kard or pentagon rookies personally).

so, when do you think that an artist stops being a rookie?

For me I stop considering them rookies 2 years after debut.
For example:
Itzy debuted in 2019 so I still consider them rookies.
Stray Kids debuted in 2018 so I don't consider them rookies anymore.

I don't know why so many people will consider a kpop group, which has been around a long time, a rookie group just because they aren't popular.

Yeah, same. After they been around for 2-3 years, they shouldn't be labeled as rookies anymore.

After 2-3 years the group should no longer be considered a rookie, depending on their releases and achievements aswell.

Once they reach 2 is when I officially stop considering them rookies

And for when they become seniors (like industry seniors, because obviously any artist that debuts before another is their senior), I consider that once they turn 6.

So for me, this year, groups that debuted in 2021 are graduating being rookies, and any groups that debuted in 2017 are becoming seniors… which means there will be no 3rd gen groups that aren’t seniors by the end of this year :’)
