Trigger Warning for mentions of *******, self harm, abuse, and bullying
Recently former member of Topp Dogg (now known as XENO-T) has accused his group mates of bullying him.
He went by the stage name Seogoong while an idol, but is now a trot singer using his real name Park Hyun Ho.
He said that the bullying was not 'a full-blown example' but it occurred at a horrible time.
One incident he recalled was when he was considering leaving the group:
"It was the moment when I decided to let go of my idol dreams. It was at the meeting when I decided to leave Topp Dogg that my fellow members did a poll in front of me. ‘If you want Seogoong (Park Hyun Ho’s stage name) to leave the group, raise your hand’ and all the members raised their hands. It was the worst."
This was only worsened by his father who blamed his personality for his failure as an idol.
"After leaving the group, I grabbed my belongings from the dorm and went home. My father got angry with me and put all the blame on me. He blamed it on my personality. I was already at a low place mentally so I opened the window and tried to jump out. My father, however, grabbed my clothes in an attempt to stop me. He grabbed it so intensely, that my clothes ripped. When I look back, I realize how foolish I was behaving and how much pain I caused my father."
Although this group was not very popular, and you may have never heard of Park Hyun Ho, I hope you can support him as he reveals this information.
Something I would like to bring up is another member, Hansol.
One day I was googling if there was any idols who had self harm scars, and Hansol was one of those idols. Although he was struggling with other issues such as his sexual identity (he later came out as asexual), I wonder if he also was bullied. That could have contributed to the horrible mental state he was in in 2018.
If you want to learn more about Hansol's story https://www.koreaboo.com/stories/former-topp-dogg-member-hansol-wrists-livestream/
Big trigger warning if you do want to learn about him.
But, I'm glad Hyun Ho is now out of that situation and doing something he enjoys doing.
I hope his remarks can help improve the kpop industry and how idols are treated.
