Yes, I'm bringing back this topic. But that's because I'm curious.

What are your thoughts on idols set to debut that are NOT korean?
Do you think they should have the opportunity to debut?

Imo, everyone should have the opportunity to debut. Regardless of race/ethnicity/skin color etc.
Just because of race//etc. doesn't mean you can't be in kpop, as long as you respect their culture and know the language. From what i've seen and read. ---> But just because they CAN debut doesn't mean a COMPANY would accept them for them to become trainees. But that doesn't mean people will like the idol. Korea is known to be discriminant against dark skin tones, but this is often from the old population. Having dark skin is not preferable there. Since being pale and fair-skinned is the beauty standard and because of their history.

is this too confusing lol------------- This is not meant to trigger anyone---------
But I want to know what y'all think :<

I don't see the issue with non-Korean people debuting.as long as theyre not being weird and purposefully trying to make themselves “Korean”

I agree. As long as someone knows the language, can speak it and sing it well, and probably also Japanese (since sometimes k-pop groups have Japanese songs) and are respectful of the culture, they should be able to debut. But like you said, it might be harder for them since they’re not of Asian background, a lot of companies may not want to take them on.

I believe it's great that they have the opportunity to debut even in a country that isn't theirs, but Korea is so harsh on them. Not just physically talking, since they tend to search for idols that although are from other countries still look like their preferred stereotype, but they also over exploit them and many times don't even treat them equally in the way they do with Korean idols. Yes, I'm looking at you, SM, treat your Chinese members correctly, ffs.

Uh I might get some hate but my opinion is that they should be mostly Asian at least. I’m not really a fan of people who want to be a kpop idol that aren’t Asian bc it’s hard for Asians to become popular in Western areas, so I feel it’s a place for Asian people to shine. If they wanted to make a group that dances and sings in like the Western world that’d be okay but to me, I’d prefer kpop to stay Asian. Sorry, that’s my opinion

Completely understandable. Still, they will never hire someone who isn't at least part Asian (example, Mark and Johnny from NCT; although they are from USA, they are also part Korean and such). But what happened with Samuel at the Produce 101 Season 2 completely broke my heart...

i don't mind it as long as they know the korean language and aren't pretending like they are korean, although for some reason the thought of a non asian kpop solo artist weirds me out...

In my opinion being non-Korean in kpop isn't as scandalous as being non-Asian but even Asian idols get discriminated.
As long as you're well aware of the culture/language, you don't erase your own background by trying to be someone
you're not it's okay for me. Otherwise it's just cringe, unecessary and gives off strong Koreaboo vibes.
