2 days ago 5 of the episodes of the 3rd season of Demon Slayer (Swordsmith Village Arc) were released!
I know the season isn't over yet but I wanted to hear everyone's thoughts so far.
Here are mine:
Positive: I think the scenes with all the upper moons and Muzan in the first episode have been my favorites so far. I didn't read the manga so it was so exciting to see more of the upper ranked demons. Also pun completely intended, but I love that Mitsuri is getting heavily featured this season. She's my favorite Hashira and I've been dying to see her love breathing and demon slaying skills. And what they've shown so far is amazing! I love how unique her sword is and how we get to see she's more than just a pretty face and meant for fan service. The fighting scenes have also been really exciting and I know they'll get even better. Upper moons 4 and 5 are super unique in terms of their appearance, powers, and personality. I definitely wasn't anticipating 4 who seemed scared of everything to split into his clones and nearly destroy Tanjiro and Nezuko. It also makes me happy to see Tanjiro really excel with his sun breathing. He's really getting a hang of it and it's exciting to see. Also whatever the hell is up with Genya?! I'm really pumped for the 14th when more episodes come out!
Negatives: I think the one thing that I didn't really like was some of Tanjiro's behaviors. To me Tanjiro has always been heavily protective of Nezuko, even if she is perfectly capable of defending herself. But this season it feels like Nezuko has been pushed to the side. Of course there have been moments where their sibling relationship is strong, but overall it feels really different. I kept thinking "where's Nezuko?" or "why isn't he asking where Nezuko is?". Tanjiro also seems to be a bit more childish compared to previous arcs. Now he actually is a child so he has the right to act that way. But compared to his mature and motivated mentality in past arcs, this just feels weird. Part of me thinks that this is being done to substitute for the lack of comic relief brought by Zenitsu and Inosuke. Speaking of those two, I miss them. They're antics and getting to see them improve was amazing in previous arcs. So I'm really missing that here. Again I didn't read the manga so idk how things will work out, but I hope they show up sometime this season.
