Hey guys, so I am going to talk about the time I met my favorite band. Who is that you ask? None other than the gothic metal band, Motionless in White.
I should introduce you guys to them first, in case you're too lazy to search. Here's a breif rundown:
Motionless in White was formed in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 2005 by high school friends, and they are still going strong 15 years later despite various lineup changes.
This is the current lineup:
From left to right: Ryan, Ricky, Chris, Justin & Vinny.
Chris is the only remaining original member from when the band started in 2005.
I have had the pleasure of seeing them live 3 times now. Once in 2010, when my dad met Chris, again in 2011 & finally in 2016, when I finally got the chance to meet them.
They had a different lineup in 2016:
Vinny, Ryan, Devin, Chris, Josh(Balz), & Ricky.
The above lineup is who I met. Now, with that out of the way, let me get onto the story
So it was June 24th, 2016 when I finally got to meet my boys. They were playing on the Vans Warped Tour, which I'm sure a lot of people knows what it is, but in case you don't: Warped Tour is basically a huge all day music festival with tons of bands, popular well known bands & also lesser known bands. For $140-165(depending where you purchase) ticket, you get to see over 100+ bands in one day.
So, my two friends and I traveled to Dallas, Texas for the show. We got there about 10:30 am, gates usually open at 11am, so there is a huge line we have to stand in, but it's so worth the wait, because that's how you get to meet lesser known band members, if that's your thing, because they will usually be walking around, handing out free demo singles of one or two of their songs, while one of their crew members follows, playing said song(s) on their phone or portable cd player.
So, I remember Motionless in White were like one of the closing bands, if I remember right, I believe there were three. Motionless in White, and two others that I can't remember. They played at 5:45 pm though I believe, but the meet and greet had been prior to that, around 3:30 pm.
My friends didn't want to come with me to meet them, which was fine, so I went by myself and was standing in a long line, that wrapped around a tree. So, as I'm standing there, there are tons of other MIW fans and I am actually being sociable for once.
The wait took forever. We were told to either have something on our person that the boys could sign or we could purchase a poster. I didn't have cash on me, so I couldn't purchase a poster, the only thing I had on me was my Vans Warped Ticket. (If I ever find it again, I will post a picture of it since it was signed).
So, finally I'm getting close and I am starting to panic. There are a couple of girls in front of me, probably 13-14 years old, I wasn't sure. But finally I get there and the way they are lined up is like this:
Balz is the first one you meet when you approach, next to him is Devin, then Ryan, Ricky, Vinny & finally Chris.
So here's the dialogue I remember:
Balz: Hey! Thanks for coming out! *signs my ticket and passes it to Devin*
Me: *all shy & probably speaking way to low* Hi Balz, thank you.
Devin: *smiles & signs my ticket*
Me: Thanks so much, Devin!
Then we get to these two fuckers.
Ryan takes my ticket and signs it but doesn't move it to Ricky. He's just staring at me and then Ricky's like:
"So, how's the line? Is there a lot of people?" *while smiling*
Me: *suddenly it hits me that he's talking to me*
Me: Oh yeah! It wraps all the way around that tree & even further back!
Both Ryan & Ricky, while laughing: no way! Really?!"
At this point, Ryan still hasn't passed my ticket to Ricky & fans behind me are getting irritated. We weren't allowed to take pics with the boys or anything like that, & we weren't allowed to have full on conversations, because the M&G was only an hour long & then the boys had to get ready to play.
So, finally, Ricky nudges Ryan out of his trance, I thank him & Ricky & move on to Vinny. Vinny was quiet and didn't say anything, nor did he smile, but I figured it was because he was shy & this was the first big festival he had been a part of since joining MIW.
Then I get to Chris. And let's just say, Chris is way taller in person than in photos. My man is like 6'2 if I remember, and he is a scay MF. But he is so damn sweet. Here is how our convo went.
Chris: Hey! How are you? Enjoying your day?
Me: *by now, i am over my panic of meeting them* Hi, Chris. I am good, how are you? I am, it's just so damn hot.
Chris: *smiling & laughing* Yeah, make sure to drink water & rest if you can. I'm doing good though, thanks for asking.
Me: You're welcome. I love your band, been a fan since 2010.
Chris: Woah! An original Creatures fan! Right on, dude!
Me: Yep! *we high five*
Chris: Shit, it's been good talking with you, make sure to come see us play on *forgot the stage name* at 5:45!
Me: Of course! Wouldn't miss it!
Chris: *this mf broke the venue rule and leaned over to hug me* See you in a bit!
Ya'll I walked away from there with my cheeks red af. I was so happy the rest of the day, and told all my friends online about it the following day.
I hope to see them again one day, it would definitely be very nostalgic for me.

this is totally unrelated but maybe not, but in 2011, Chris wished me a happy birthday on Twitter 
I hope you find your Ticket too. Imagine taking that while going to meet them again !
